So finally, finally, finally my wife & I are analog free. I haven't smoked in just under 4 days. We've been vaping and smoking 1 or 2 cigs a day for about a month. And finally last week I refused to buy smokes. Figured we'd continue to smoke until we completely got rid of those things.

I actually want to bum a smoke off someone...not because I want to smoke, but because I want to experience the I tried an analog after not smoking for awhile and it was nasty for myself.

Anyway, does anybody have any experience with using a PV to quit smoking, then quitting vaping?

I suppose that's a tricky question, because once people quit vaping, they probably don't post here too much. And I know some of you don't want to quit vaping, and that's fine, but we didn't start vaping to replace one really bad habit with another not anywhere near as bad, but still not as good as just breathing nothing but air habit.

I don't want to quit vaping but I can tell you that after 3 months of vaping I have noticed a real decrease in the "urge". If I am in a situation where I can't vape for hours I don't get all tense like when I smoked cigarettes. I suspect that if you gradually lower your nicotine down to 0 that the addiction will pretty easy to let go of.

If you do quit vaping please post here about your experience!

I will definitely post a final farewell.

That's our plan. Once we get use to not smoking, then we'll start reducing our nicotine.

Agreed about the urges too. When I couldn't have a smoke, I wanted one really bad. When I can't vape, it's no big deal.

I accidentally quit vaping 3 days ago. I can't say I have quit forever, especially now that I am going on vacation next week, but I can say that when I get home from vacation I will be making the switch to 0nic and only vaping in situations when I usually would bum a smoke... like out at the bar, or with my mom and her friends who all still smoke. So I guess I have quit vaping as a daily habit. Does that make sense?

Makes a lot of sense. I'm pretty much in the same boat. Basically I vape during those tempting times which isn't all that many these days.
I don't know if I will ever stop, but I will never not have a PV around just in case---quit and started up again too many times because I made just one exception and bummed a cigarette. NOT going to happen again.

it would be cool to have a Hall of Fame subforum for people to post when they succeeded in kicking the nicotine habit....

I hope to one day just lose the habits forever, but I wouldn't be unhappy if Vaping was the one I stayed with for a while. I do know that vaping is much easier to deal with in terms of urge. Tobacco was an evil demon that made you stand out in the rain and the cold. Vaping is a habit that doesn't make your clothes, house, or car smell bad and will let you decide without withdrawal symptoms that you can go 3 hours without going outside to vape.

Vaping is something I don't worry about having to quit. Analogs were something that I wished I could quit but didn't want to go through the jitters to put down. If I taper off and I'm successful, all the better... :2cool:

I've noticed the same thing happen to me. I don't start freaking out if I can't get a vape session...and i'm certainly not prowling around looking for an electronic cigarette to bum when I'm without!

I'm only about 60 days in no analog cigs...And although I enjoy vaping a lot more than smoking, there are times when I do realize I could quit altogether in time. The "addiction" doesn't feel as intense...

I'm not far enough out of the woods yet to stop vaping as I certainly don't want to slip off the wagon and start analogs again...

maybe in 6 months or so, I'll give it a shot...but at the end of the day - I really enjoy the electronic cigarette & the breathing ritual associated with it, so I'd likely just switch to flavor & 0MG nicotine...

pretty cool to even have that option!

I plan to eventually quit vaping as a daily habit. I've been analog and nicotine free for a little over 3 weeks now; I just don't think I'm there yet to stop vaping. My mental urge is still too strong.

I suspect that when I return to full time work, I'll be done though and will only keep a PV with me when I go out and drinks are involved.

This is most certainly an odd phenomena. I woke up yesterday and today and I didn't even want to vape or smoke, nothing. I was content. The odd thing is that I have been on non-additive tobacco for 8 years (American Spirit, so I'm not addicted to any of the other 4,000 chemicals) so there must be something else in tobacco that makes for a cranky monster that NEEDS. I really don't know how to explain what is happening.

It is much easier when you go down to 0 nic. Some days I hit the bullet once or twice just to do it but the other day, I left it at home when I went to work and it wasn't a big deal. It can be done

Agreed. I vape a lot when I'm home but when I'm out somewhere where it's not convenient to vape, it's nice to not have a nic fit if I can't get to a vaping area.

Well, a little over two weeks and no problem without cigs. Not even a craving for one...except, last night I had a dream (don't really remember too much of what was going on) but at one point in the dream I said I'll be right back, I'm going to have a smoke. I don't remember who I was talking to, or much of the details of the dream, but I remember very clearly wanting to go for a smoke, and I remember very clearly the person that I was talking to saying something about vaping instead, and I was like oh yeah, I don't smoke. So I guess that counts as a craving.

I started smoking at the age of 15 or 16 and worked my way up to 3 packs per day if I had the day off; 2 packs, 2.5 maybe on a work day. Been smoke free since Feb 4.

Sometime in March, husband & I were fighting. He left, I took one of his cigarettes & I honestly could not finish it. It was gross, burned my throat & the taste lingered even after brushing my teeth.
Haven't smoked since.

I do vape constantly, just as I smoked. I am allowed at work so it is literally constantly. The initial plan was to cut back on nicotine level until I can get down to vaping 0mg of nicotine, then pocketing some nicorette gum or the lozenge in my cheek--hey, at least there are no batteries required with gum!

I have oodles of 24mg liquid & am currently looking into cutting it so I can drop nic intake. I vape so much, my mouth is all dried up like when I smoked 2 packs per day.

Personally, I need it. I get fidgety & anxious when I cannot vape. Vaping merely replaced cigarettes but it's cleaner & cheaper.

Right now, I'm comfortable with ithat but I think for me, quitting vaping may be a bigger battle than with cigs. For others, it seems to be easier. For those like me, who are hard core stress cases, it may prove to be a bit tougher.

Bottom line, make sure you are comfy around cigarettes & don't even crave them when someone is sitting right next to you smoking. Then I would say, it's safe to ween yourself off.

Sorry, I'm rambling now! :D

I find myself vaping less and less, but I guess I was in that "NEW AND EXCITING" vaping stage for a very long time. Sitting here right now I feel like I could put it all down and completely quit vaping and smoking, but I've realized that vaping also helps me stay away from sweets and sodas and I'm (re)starting my goal to lose my winter coat... weight lols. If I stick with vaping forever I'm not going to feel bad about it, its more than a nicotine delivery device, its a hobby, its a community, and its a godsend for many people. I just hope I get some good use out of my mods before they collect dust =p

Well from the way i see it smoking is branding , but its branding in the wrong ways . thats why when you go this Sucks ... i want to quit to friends, family members, youth pastors etc etc.. they go you? quit? nawww that wouldn't look right , and your like WTF!! this is killing me it really does in fact suck no matter how happy or content i look or how cool you think i look doing this . Im sitting in foggy la flume ride straight to hell , and cancer is the ferryman . I've caught the you don't look right without a smoke more times than i could count due to the fact that im in a metal/rock band and people just assumes it comes with the territory like i was just crafted to burn out early and they were meant to live a long healthy life or something like we were born on just two different sides ,its really messed up (and kinda sick) sad to say though i did enjoy smoking or i wouldn't have done it for as long as i did or start as young as i did this saying i may switch to a 0 nic formula someday (if my health calls for it) But screw giving up my PV i just like it too much and i rather be branded an e-smoker who' smokes the funny looking stick than walk the Greenmile to my 0xygen tank one day . however thats just me if you want to live with no dependency that is a tough road to follow and i wish all of you who take this road success but until then lets bask in the glory of the E-smoke together
