Anyone else cutting back on spending?

It's hard for me to cut back on spending after bills, groceries, and gas money. I have $9 to myself for 2 weeks... I'm pretty sure the government has already cut back my spending with prices rising. My car needs 4 tires and a blinker switch so my brake lights will work. I have no way to save money to get it fixed. Can't buy a car. Taxi costs $15 dollars to get from here to work, then $15 more to get from work to home.... way more than I spent on gas, now I'm going in debt. Plus I've been trying to figure out a way to pay a $60 dollar hospital bill for the past 6 months.
Life sucks in this aspect.

DH & I live on fixed income (SSI). I pretty much manage the budget and have, for years, had to watch where the pennies went.
It got real hard for awhile because son got laid off and moved back home. TG he was only off for about seven months. Now that he is back to work, we're all breathing a bit easier.
Still, if I hadn't switched to vaping, I would've had to cut corners but since that expense is down, life hasn't changed that much. If things keep going up, and since there is no SS raise coming in the 2011, that will change.

We're fixing to have to tighten up a bit.
Thank you greedy Florida politician's.. our property tax bill just tripled
It is going to wipe out our saving's to pay it when we thought we were more than covered with extra for emergencies..
Everything is going up around here..I told my husband we may seriously have to consider selling if we can and move whether he likes it or not.

Tripled!? Where the bleep is all the $ government takes in going? Our infastructre is garbage, our schools are garbage, etc.

Heads MUST start rolling and I'm starting to mean that more and more literally each and everyday. It's modern day "Let them eat cake" in America.

Several years ago my homeowner's insurance tripled in one fell swoop. Suddenly mine cost more than houses worth 10x as much a few miles away. I called my insurance company to question the billing, and talked to a woman who I had to have pity for. It was clear to me that it was a corporate thing and none of her personal doing.

As she explained to me, the Florida Public Service Commission had approved the rate hikes BASED ON ZIP CODE. Meaning that yours could triple while the guy across the street (if it is a zip code boundry) would be unaffected.

This all came about after Charlie Crist was elected. One of his broken campaign promises was to correct exactly this type of abuse. He went after property tax instead. Once again, watching out for the wealthy.
