It's just the way people are. We raise up the underdog until they reach the top and then promptly pull the ladder out from under them

I guess that analogy, works well with us vapers too. Family and colleagues alike, will be ultra supportive while we're coming off the stinkies. Then when we've fully quit and taken up vaping full time, the support diminishes.

I get it from my pack-and-a-half-a-day smoking roommate, who repeatedly told himself that his blood pressure spikes are caused by my secondhand vapor--and I taking my vaping OUTSIDE! He handed me an alarmist article demonizing e-cigs which I already read (and picked apart) and refuse to reread.

He acts as if secondhand smoke is less harmful than e-cig vapor, especially PG vapor.

When it gets too much for me, I just -

a). Stare blankly at them.
b). Start licking a nearby window.
c). Baffle them with the actual science behind vaping.
or
d). Hit them with my Vamo.

Any one of the above, or a combination seems to do the trick

I've got my son (never smoked) and my niece smoker trying unsuccessfully to quit. On my back about how 'unsafe' vaping is. I've tried to educate them both without much success and I'm about ready to explode. For the moment I've gone quiet, my son at least ought to recognise that as a warning.

I'm so proud of myself for quitting the stinky sticks. Why do they have to pour rain on my parade? I won't let them. I LOVE vaping and maybe it's not 100% safe but I'm certain it's 99% better than smoking analogs.

HAPPY VAPING. :)

Given that a clawhammer to the temple is not an acceptable response amongst polite company, I think I would go with the 3-minute belly laugh - as if the offending party were wearing a clown suit while trying to sell me a haircut.

Heh, perfect.

Not a bellyacher but I do laugh at them not with them have encouraged others to do so too. Will snicker and chortle if they start back up and a good ole dismissive hand wave is a nice finish.

I don't get some of that but what (to me) is equally (or moreso) as annoying is people doing that to my dad. I finally got him vaping after about 3-4 years of trying and people around him are making snide comments about vaping. They do it in a joking manner but to me it's just infuriating because no matter how much people (news/media) claims that e-cigs aren't as harmless as they appear, they HAVE to be better than smoking. Especially how much he was smoking. He rolled his own so there was really no cap as to how much he did it. It was just one after the other. The other time he quit he was a nightmare to be around. With vaping his attitude hasn't changed one bit. If anything he is more pleasant as he feels better. He breaths better and easier. He can move around without being out of breath. His chest doesn't hurt. He doesn't smell. How can that be a bad thing?
I agree with you that some people just seem to get off on bringing other people down. It's almost as if they want you to fail just so they can say "I told you so" or "I knew it". Like really? Is your ego more important than my/my father's health? I think not. I really wish more legitimate research was being done on these things. The problem is that if the government is involved in anyway, there's no way to be sure it's not corrupt. They are highly invested in tobacco products. If they were smart, they would invest in vaping... but then again... Vaping is prolonging lives.
im sure i cant be alone in these experiences. anyone out there going through similar bs?
