I find that the new 510 top that I bought has a spring that has a sharp protruding end that catches on the battery tops. What eventually happened is that it caught and twisted out of shape. Since then I only load the battery from the bottom. The old GG Slim 901 brass top had a spring that ended on an even loop and this was not an issue. Unfortunately, the springs are not interchangeable. I am going to contact COV to see what I can get. Has anyone else had this happen?

Imeo suggested getting a bottom spring for GGTB or GGTS. This does screw in fine, without falling out like the 901 spring, but there is a different issue. That spring is designed for bottom contact and can be too wide for the plus side of a 10440. Sometimes it fires and sometimes it doesn't. So, I went back the beat up old one. Also I think loading from the bottom will wear out the short threads on the switch and beat up on the O ring. So I do want to solve this.

all springs in GG line are the same guys. GGTS, GGTB and Slim have same springs. So Bruce have them, no problem.

Really? I have one for my aluminum GGTS (and a spare) as well as one shaped like a weird tornado for my SS GGTS. I like the new one because it allows for a better fit when using an 18500.

Here's a picture.

I think I got the other side of that spring because my spring is tornado shaped but not as dramatic so it was probably the top of that very spring, I say that because as you know I have 47 and you have 46. Its crazy because that probably is the case.

Got the replacement spring from Bruce, free, and I appreciate it. Yet, it the replacement will probably have the same issue. The spring end "corkscrew" will likely hook into a battery vent at some point when closed, twist up and get mangled. What is the long term solution, besides loading the battery from the switch side? The Slim requires a custom, narrow spring which ends in a round loop which would be like the one found in the original 901 connector.
