I have had 4 packages(PIF, Classifieds ) in 3 weeks not make it to my house plus 1 that a kind person on a neighboring street brought to me because it had been misdelivered.
The tracking on the USPS website says they have all been delivered so I didn't bother the senders with the info because they did send them. It just seems USPS is really dropping the ball. I have emailed them but still havent heard back. This is really starting to suck. Does anyone know what else I can do? I am at work when the mail carrier comes so I can't approach him/her directly about this.
It's not a huge deal if PIF doesn't make it but the stuff I pay for...that's another story. Is there something I can do to prevent this from the senders end? Is it unheard of to ask for signature confirmation if I pay the charge? It's like $1.95 if done through paypal shipping.
I am just getting so aggravated with this and not sure what to do about it.

Highly unlikely but did you contact the senders to make sure they got your address correct? I had one parcel RTS'ed to me even though the tracking info showed it as delivered. It was my own fault as I had neglected to put the reciever's APT # on the package.

I'd contact USPS and see what they say. They may want to turn it over to security and investigations.

May think I'm kidding, but I'm not...

Leave a personal, kind note for your carrier -- cookies work too! Explain your desperation (LOL) and dependence on his/her service. I always make sure mine (3 in last year) all know they are my idol/life line (they are!). Scott, my current hero in blue, responds in kind with excellent service and treats for my crazy pooches everyday. Scott's a Doll!

I'm not saying don't do the investigations, etc., but I'd do it only after I try the very personal approach first.

my $.02 Good Luck!

for classifieds i would recommend insurance not signature confirmation. still, for the ones you have mia now, notify the senders to have them start a complaint with usps. sometimes that helps and missing stuff all of a sudden is found. at the least it will put your po on notice that something is going wrong on your route.
good luck

If your mailman has not correctly delievered 4 different packages in three weeks the mailman's supervisors need to know. I'd highly suspect that if you have that many packages not arriving at your house you are not the only one not getting your mail correctly delivered. The reason could be innocent error or otherwise. The mailman's supervisors can't fix what they don't know is wrong.

I went to my mailbox a week or so back and it was stuffed with packages. I was like "wow, party over here"!! Unfortunately only 3 of the 8 packages belonged to me! I put a note on each one that said "oops, wrong address, try again" and put them back in. I made the notes removable so the receiver will most likely never know her packages were a day late because maillady left them wrong. I worry about this happening to my packages and someone not being nice enough to send them back on their way.

I would definately call the post office and tell them what's going on. If you have tracking numbers then you can definately track those packages down.

Not necessarily....several months back I had purchased a 5v box mod from a member here and it was DOA. I sent it back with tracking and it disappeared into thin air! I had tracking which just said it had been dropped off at my post office. I called the P.O. and all they could do was give me the number for the P.O. in New Hampshire where the package should have gone. I was on the phone with the postmaster there while she looked all around and wrote a note for the lady who delivered to this guy to keep her eyes open for it. It never did turn up.

I could fill at least 2 pages worth of packages I've never received that had delivery confirmation numbers that made no difference. Same way with packages I've "sent". The complaints and countless hours on the phone with postmaster generals at various post offices were a waste of my time in each case. Everything from cheap items to a $500 evga gpu (video card). They are not the most reliable logistical solution, but are the cheapest. The only reliable way to go with usps in my experience is USPS Priority Flate Rate with insurance added. This is the ONLY way I'll use them for valuable items. UPS/DHL/FEDEX put them to shame imho, but you pay a premium for their services.:2c:

You're definitely right. I send packages every day for my biz and have had a few lost in their time. All have tracking confirm numbers and there is no way they can track down a lost package. The safest way to send package is registered and that is the only one they really have total control of but it is very expensive.

BTW Lynlee, B is right, such pretty hands and a very cool photo!

I recently had a customer ask me where her package was. I checked the USPS site and it was listed as delivered. I asked her if anyone took in the mail other than her and no one did. I then asked her to contact her local post office. "Miraculously", the package appeared in her delivery 7 days later. She hasn't had any more problems with the packages I've sent to her since.

tracking for pif is fine, at least it shows the package was mailed .....
for the classified i would always request insurance in case of loss; registered mail has also gone lost and there is no reimbursement except for the postage.
having bought lots of lights on ebay i have experienced damage/loss with all carriers ....... none of them are perfect

Just my 2 cents here, but if the package contains anything of value, I try to forgo the US Postal service due to their poor track record. I use UPS for those valuable packages. I have UPS'd anywhere from 7500 to 10,000 packages a year with UPS and I do not believe I have ever had a lost one and maybe an average of 3 per year damaged.
