just be careful that it is unbleached and untreated i think soot. you would be threading in untested waters if you do experiment with it. also if the other half has ever used said sponge, i would be wary of using it for the amount of dodgy chems they put in soaps and shampoos etc.

Natural sponge sounds like a great idea.

Stuffed toys....that's horrible. I have a soft spot for stuffed bears. have you no heart????

But anyways I wonder about natural sponge myself. I used to have one lying around that i picked while snorkeling but i have no idea where it is right now.

What about the filter material available in every soke shop for rolling your own smokes - belive it is longatuitally (SP?) placed in in filter and then wrapped with a paper holder. Made to stand up to heat too.

The roll your own filters may be too dense to hold much liquid.
Whatever it is it has to be poures to absorb and hold it.
The batting at the fabric store is the best ive seen so far, some people talked about a fish tank filter type that worked, but they said it had to be the good stuff or it was full of fiberglass. I havent looked into that yet.
An unused cart is what 60centsUS? buy 5 or more and reuse them. You can clean the stuffing if it starts to get gummy or starts to taste funny. Just drop it in some hot water, and pat dry with a towel.
1 cart CAN last a month if done right. The ones i use go for at least a week before even needing cleaning.
