thoughts on cotton/ hemp wick

Some of the setups i rebuild i cannot use my ss mesh for (clearomizers) and i wanted to get away from using silica wick if possible, to take yet another step to make this a healthier alternative. I saw that some one was using bamboo thread for wicking material and i bought some, while i was at the store i came across a cotton/hemp blend (65%/35%) that was a little thicker. I was wondering if anyone had any experience using this type of wick material. I am going to give it a try but i just wanted to see if anyone else has done it to see if its worth attempting.
