Nope, I don't think that's it. shop is owned by an Asian lady, who I don't think is old enough to have offspring in highschool. All of the annoying highschool kids were white, middle class, California red neck types.

Hmm.. well then, that's a puzzle. Maybe she doesn't realize how annoying they are to customers? Different cultural values, and all that.

My friend Brenda says there are tons of rednecks in California, their may be a lot of of illegals in the fruit and vegetable fields, but there's also a lot of locals who are definitely some Cali variety of redneck. Plus all the smaller owner/operators and their families, etc. I can't attest myself, but she grew up there.

I told myself that I wasn't going to comment because I've had several shots of Brandy, but I can't help it. Why would you want to call someone trailer trash? They are still human beings! Without them, who would work for us and do the jobs that we don't want to do?
Have a little respect.

Yeah, down here in Ga, "redneck" usually means someone who works out in the hot sun all day, engaged in some variety of farming or landscaping or something along those lines. When I'm all invested in my flower gardening, I'm happy to be a redheaded redneck. :D This spring I was a bit obsessed with vaping and ECF to do anything gardening-related, but there's always next year. :D But considering CA's central valley, which produces something like, I dunno, about 75%? of all the produce consumed in the US, I bet there are a LOT of rednecks!!! :thumb:

To coat tail on nor cals post, shop "chronies" (my term for some of the annoying turds that linger around these places all day and are douchey) can make a b&m awkward. My second time ever going to one I encountered one. I had zero knowledge, a new nimbus dripper on my jenky kts mech mod I had just got the week before. The guy working was helpful, letting me sample some juices, wasn't too engaging but whatever, did help me with suggestions between giving me tanks to try and working on a rebuild. I decided on a flavor and asked for 18mg. In comes shop turd, "you're dripping 18mg?!?!" And some other non productive things, that were of no help and it's the way he said it, I did feel a bit dumb. Anyhow simply let him know up until 3 days before that, I smoked 1.5-2 packs of red 100s a day so indeed I needed the overwhelming nicotine. Also entertained the idea of asking if he'd ever touched a females breast before but wasn't in that kind if mood to be a .....

Anyhow I still go to that b&m, the workers are cool, not the most attentive but overall helpful and did get my nimbus hitting like a champ. When it appears to be full of regs, I keep driving and go to the other b&m 1/4 mile away. Only been to this lounge spot a few times but it is a night and day difference. Granted am much more informed and savvy now but still are far more welcoming and the cons of the other spot are non existent. Sorry, just started rambling here haha.

In my experience and ice been to a lot of shops they generally seem pretty well run and most of the employees are knowledgeable about what they are doing. I've even gone as far as to offer some of my knowledge to someone who had a specific question that the employee didn't know or was unsure about. I've helped remedy quite a few issues. I visit a ton of stores some a bit more frequently and some know me by my first name.

All in all I have never felt "awkward" in a shop because I have always felt like I knew enough even in the beginning to not be lead wrong. A lot of my knowledge early on came from ECF and YouTube later on I friended a few other guys at the shops and they helped me learn.

For me, that "barging into a party I'm not invited to" feeling was when I first went into SteamCigs (and every trip since); there were a lot of apparent regulars there, and it was hard to figure out who worked there and who didn't. They didn't seem to much care that a new customer had just entered; heck, maybe they didn't even see me at first, through all the clouds.

But the first time I walked into The Vaping Shack, there were no other customers, and I walked in, not like I owned it, but like a kid into a toy store -- all the shiny vape stuff! And the owner was there with a smile and a "Welcome!" so that's how I felt, welcomed.

I understand that a lot of stores may want to setup a lounge atmosphere, to encourage hanging about, but it seems to me that it ought to be slightly separated from the retail space, so that the regulars aren't constantly underfoot of walk-in traffic who maybe just want to taste some juices, buy some coils, etc, not hang out like "School's Out!" It's a completely different kind of "vibe," and people who are new to vaping are going to feel somewhat excluded in a crowd blabbering this incomprehensible "vape-speak" to each other.

California is a very big state. Hell it's bigger than some countries. Of course we have red necks here. We also have trailer trash. And no, they're not the same. Pretty much every sect and stereotype of people can be found here. That's part of what I love about it.

I'm always amazed at the stereotypes people from tell me about California. Like assuming we say Cali... We don't. At least not in Nor Cal anyways. We're not all vegitarians who drive Prius's and hate guns. (prei? whatever the plural is)

That being said, there are a few that are true. Yes there are a few gluten free restaurants in town and yes, we do have excellent wine that we probably take for granted, but to assume we are leftist vegans and that red necks have to be poor people from the south is like assuming that everyone in DC works for the government.

I'm sorry to grill you Crybee, I meant know harm, as I know you didn't either; and I hope I did not offend. I just travel a lot and hear a lot of outsiders assumptions on what Californian life is like, so I try to give a more realistic perspective whenever I can. I hope you don't feel as though you were being lectured.

We do have some rednecks in so cal. A little city called norco aka horse town USA. All the sidewalks have dirt paths for horse riders, most business's even have places to tie up the horses. Even see people utilize their horses as transportation to and from the bars.

    Those are Cowboys, not rednecks..

California has a little bit of everything.

Vapor Kings first store here in Tulsa, I've never been to their second location, is pretty wild. First, it's huge, second, they have the lounge between the two entry doors, the tasting bar filling the entire south end, the long eastern wall is glass fronted counters full of devices, one register for the case with the high end mods, three or four more registers for the starting kits and ego stuff, and the south wall is another shorter row of glass cases and registers, two or three, that are strictly express for experienced customers picking up juice and supplies. I honestly prefer my current, smaller store more but Vapor Kings definitely has some great ideas as far as their setup and selection go. Unfortunately, their staff has gotten diluted as they got bigger and bigger and added those extra registers. Everyone who's ever helped me was a vaper, but some of them are definitely less enthusiastic about it than some of the original crew. It's still the biggest and most nicely set up vape shop I've been in.

They sure have great online prices, is all I know about Vapor Kings; I got a really nice smoktech UDCT for $6, a couple months ago, and that was the best price I've seen *anywhere* on those. It sounds like an awesome store, though; too bad it's so far from GA! :D Seems like they've figured out that not everyone wants the same thing from a vape shop. :thumb:

I've been to a few shops in the area and most of them think since I am a woman that I don't know what I'm talking about. They start telling me about dripping and I just listen to them go through it all then inform them that yes, I have a mod. I also feel that if I test some of the juices that they expect me to buy a bottle or a few. In one shop I tried 3 juices and didn't really care for any of them. When I started to leave the owner says "you're not gonna buy any?" I didn't want to be rude so I just said we would be back. The cigarette depot and vape in Duluth, Ga has always been very friendly however. They are more into vaping regardless of the name. Ha
