Anyone gotten arrested yet? Or at least hassled?

I'm just wondering because, yaknow, how stupid and aggressive some cops can be... And as a dripper (well, ex-dripper thanks to the ADM cart mod) - I felt that dripping while at a stop light looked mighty close to "drug use" and the bottles I have are not exactly "professionally labeled" I mean basically if I get lit up and the cop has NO clue to the existence of e-cigs, its basically my word he has to take for it...

I would think in a hostile situation like this, the very best I could hope for would be that he/she confiscates my equipment / juice and sends me on my way.

Anyone have any experience with a situation like this? I hope it never happens, however I feel it inevitably will... :(

I've been approached twice by a police officer. Both times, they were very polite, simply asking what I was doing. So I explained it to them. :) I never turn down the opportunity to spread information about vaping. ;)

I disassembled my equipment to show them how they worked, and I gave my traditional, "I was a 2+ pack a day smoker for 30 years, and this saved my life" spiel. One showed genuine interest and congratulated me on giving up smoking. The other officer basically scratched his head and said that now he had seen everything.

I think the key is not to get defensive or "in your face"--just view it as an opportunity to share information.

It also helps that it was daytime, and I was outside in public places, clearly being open and notorious in my vaping (not looking like I was trying to hide anything). It also helps to look like a 46 year old suburban soccer mom. :D

The other day I was hanging outside in the front yard with the hubby and the baby with my pink e-cig. Cop drove by several times on the side street, then drove around the block and parked across the street in front of a neighbors house, rolled his windows down and watched us hanging out in the front yart planting some potted plants. I laughed, these cops here are so rediculous, I made sure to drip a lot to make sure he saw it good and it looked "suspicious". Don't know if that's why he was parked out there, but he was sure interested in what we were doing.

In his defense we have a VERY nice porch my husband built this summer, maybe he was admiring it! He didn't leave until he got a call on the radio to go somewhere else.

That's obviously the best thing to do. Oh wait, nevermind.

Anyway, anybody that would get arrested for vaping is obviously doing something else also that is actually illegal. Cops are going to question you sometimes, because you're using a drug delivery device, but once they find out what it is you're fine. Unless you're a **** to the cop, which most people are for some reason.

I was at a wedding recently and one of the guys seated at the same table I was at was a cop who patrols the projects in Staten Island. I was doing a little somewhat-stealth vaping (holding the vapor in but not hiding what I was doing), and put the nicostick 510 mod I was using down on the table. He asked me, "is that one of those e-cigarettes? I've seen alot of those recently". Just curiousity and he already knew what it was.

Just Kidding SStambo..

I dont vape in in stores generally, etc. sometimes if Im going to be in there a lot time I will take the device but I can wait til I get out and back to my car.

I see cops I keep it down.. Dont want to give them any reason to pull me over thinking I am inhaling drugs or something from a device that looks like a pipe bomb. lol

Ya, I'm pretty open with mine. But I only vape where you would be allowed to smoke. I did vape in a bathroom at a restaurant once. Nobody was in there. I saw somewhere that there is a vaporless juice. I really like my vapor though. But maybe for a long plane ride or something it could prove useful.;)

Cops and security guards around Philly are pretty cool about it. Helps that this is a working class sort of town and a common complaint about the smoking ban was that now you had to smell the urine in the subway - which is coincidentally the only place the cops actually questioned me at length concerning my pv (I vape openly everywhere but the amtrak, where I make it slightly less obvious).

Interesting...

Well let me give you a little "me" background...

I wish, oh how i wish, I had a picture of my whip right now. Its a '98 Green Blazer LS, I got T-Boned like 2 years ago, wasnt my fault at all, however my insurance F*d me on it. So I got basically left with a totalled vehicle... Now, mind you cost of living, bad economy, yada yada, bills to pay, things to do, yadda yadda, I still have this totaled blazer I drive.

Now on top of that, BOTH of my side view mirrors have been knocked off, put back on, and then knocked off again. After the were "rigged" back on, I think my old neighbor acciddentally knocked the driver side one of carrying some furnature into/through the garage. The passenger side one, well I thought it would be a good Idea to hit a soccer ball at my truck with a baseball bat (because its a POS and I hate it) and it just so happens than I nailed the other mirror with a line-drive shot! LOL what luck right?

So anyway, I drive this OLD, DIRTY, Beat up, dented, crooked-hood, mirror-missing POS.

Add to that I'm 27 (but look a bit younger) listen to electronic music, go to all parts of the city late at night for "night life" activities and live in a stuck up white-suburban town.

I'm waiting for it. Some cop is going to think its some kind of new crack pipe. and I'm going to spend a night on a concrete slab. I just know it!

The only thing I got going for me is that Im definitely not skinny enough to be a crack head! LOL

This is actually unlikely to happen because cops contrary to common belief are not generally stupid. A cop may ask you what you are doing and even may ask to see the device however they are trained to know the smell of drugs and would know it wasn't drugs. Here pipes designed for drug use aren't illegal until they have residue of an illegal drug on them.
