Hi guys,

I'm afraid I've gone and left myself high and dry for wicks/coils for my only RBA (the only device I get my actual hit from) I vape from evod's and mini-tanks when I've had enough throat/lung hit from my RBA.

Sourcing kanthal and wicks in Australia isn't as easy as the US. I have found out the hard way that it can take weeks to get stuff here, and am still awaiting several deliveries. The B&M store here does not even sell wicks or wire.

So far I've extracted used wick and coil wire from my iclear30s with partial success, but even that supply has exhausted.

So I ask here, has anyone had much luck building make-shift coils out of similar materials ?

The organic cotton shouldn't be hard to find, but what about a safe substitute for wire ?

hmm, dead toaster coils? I'd order 200' and have a couple years supply. Get some ribbon to play with too. That sucks, one would think there would be a Kanthal application used in Australia.

Your post count is high enough to post in your countries section of the forum. Would go there and see what's up.

Vape long and prosper!!

I would see if I could find some nichrome wire somewhere local. Check this out. Manelco is a electronics supplier. People use it for all kinds of things.

One thing I'm familiar with is using it stretched out to melt foam for making model airplane wings. Here's a link to one hobby shop that sells it.

All you'll have to do is find out what thickness it is when you find some local and compare the resistance per inch or foot back to what Kanthal is. Too thick and it won't help you.

Good luck :thumb:

Cool, thanks much for the suggestions guys. I just need to find some wire that isn't toxic and does not contain any lead.

Looks like my toaster might get a make-over tonight. :O

So many appliances these days are toss and replace items, but an appliance repair shop, if you can find one, should be able to sell you some Kanthal or point you toward a source to buy it. If you can't find organic cotton, Q-tips are a source for medical grade cotton. One end of a Q-tip is more than enough to fill a coil.

Kanthal and Nichrome are common resistance wires used by electricians. Check your local hardware supply shops and electricians and you'll probably be able to find some.

Great idea guys. I'll start my wire hunting adventure tomorrow. My toaster lives for another day.

Cheers!
