Anyone have their doctor voice an opinion on PV?

I had a doctor appt on Wed. At that point only 5 days using my PV and not smoking. My doctor was THRILLED came in to the room giving me a double thumbs up! Having her vote of confidence added to my determination. Altho I love the flavors of vapor and now wonder why I smoke those nasty tasting analogs for so long!

I'm going put vaping next to smoking/non-smoking question.

I would love to do the same but my insurance company is going to be charging more for smokers and considers vaping smoking.I plan on lying repeatedly on any form that ask if I have ever smoked, do smoke or even know anyone who smoked.A lot of people may think honesty and the golden rule on this one ,that is not the way I am going. If you have a good relationship with your doc and he/she is any good they will know if you smoke or smoked anyway and not put it on the insurance records. My insurance company next year is requiring everyone that is not under 18 on a policy to get a detailed exam and blood work to qualify for the cheaper rates on a group plan,UHC.Good luck with your doc I am far healthier than when smoking.

I had to go to Dr a couple months ago. Told him hadn't had a cig in 44 days.... however.... (pulling PV out of pocket) I'm vaping on this. He smiled real big, said he had me figured as one of 2 people who would never give up cigs. His nurse was really interested/curious about it. Return visits are first met with, "How many days now?" lol! Dr appeared to know what pv was, didn't give any opinion but has just smiled about it, so I know he's fine with it. The other Dr I had to see was really curious about it, had never seen one. He wanted to see it all over, and know what everything was on it and how to use it. He obviously had someone else in mind to tell about it.

I had really been on the fence about telling Drs since they all seem to have such 'attitudes' toward smokers. I figured they'd be against vaping too. A nurse & anesthes on here both were saying that there were some really good reasons to tell Drs as it can help them to troubleshoot problems they wouldn't otherwise be aware of.... especially like during surgery & stuff. Thought about it awhile & decided I'd tell them. Glad I did now. Have to say, I was shocked & happy at their responses.

Glad this thread came up as I could use some help in this area. I am a dental assisting student at a local tech school and for a class project got stuck with smoking cessation programs.

For those that are in the medical field (preferably doctors), I could really use letters vouching for not only your training and licensing, but also vouching for your medical experience with using ecigs over tobacco cigs and exactly what your professional opinion is.

Personally, I think vaping is better than analogs (although I strongly suggest the use of common sense and research the suppliers you buy from) and very well could be not only something temporary to stop using nicotine but serve as a valid substitute for analogs. Unfortunately, in this instance, my personal opinion don't count.

Please note that these letters will be used as a part of my class project and will be open for reading for anybody who wishes to do so.

If you know of or are a doctor that wishes to do this, please pm me and I will send you my snail mail address.

Thank you

Anne

I am a doctor. I totally approve of my use of a PV.:)

I was so pleased that after a 19-year habit of smoking I was able to quit -- and stay quit -- from the very first day of using a PV that I called the Veterans Medical Center, where I receive my medical care, in Spokane, Washington, to report to their Smoking Cessation office my success.

I was very displeased to be met with a person who was totally against PV use and said she would not recommend vaping to anyone and claimed it did not work and had, amazingly, a 100 percent failure rate!

Naturally, I will not leave this matter alone and will report directly to my doctors my success at quitting smoking using the PV.

I am quite sure my doctors will be VERY pleased at my success since one of their first questions each time they see me is, "Do you still smoke?"

I will be very happy to report to them that at long last I have quit and I will tell them that it was the PV that made it possible -- even though I am fully aware that they cannot "prescribe" a PV for smoking cessation ... yet.

Truly inspirational! There is no denying, vapor > smoke!

I know my doctor introduced me to one of her office workers who was vaping. But I got to "teach" her a bit. She was only using a gas station type disposable. Had no clue about the Wide Word Web of Vaping, so I got to turn her onto that. She would like to cut down on the nicotine too but that's hard to do when all you can get is one kind of e juice at the gas station! I don't have a lot of faith in doctors. I think in a lot of instances I can accomplish the same by shaking feathers and beads over my own head and doing a little dance. LOL At least this new doctor is more progressive in her thinking.
