I am using svd for 2 months now. I use it with unprotected ultrafire 18350 and protected trustfire 18650. It doesnt work with protected trustfire 18350!? Strange... Also i get occasionally auto shutdowns. No biggie, but worth mentioning it.

The SVD has built-in protection. Using protected batteries will cause damage to your SVD chip and cause it to shut down or worse. NEVER USE PROTECTED BATTERIES IN REGULATED MODS.

IMR type batteries are recommended for APV's, they are a safer chemistry without a protection circuit. Protected batteries in a protected device often leads to trouble. VV/VW devices place a high drain on the batteries, protected batteries will shut down when they noticed such a drain.

The SVD is a protected device. When the other person asked what kind of battery, the type of battery should have been included in the answer. That is, is the battery an IMR, is it a protected battery. If you are unsure, post a link to the batteries you have, if possible.

Edit: Just noticed this was started way back in May, oh well.

Same issue here. I had mine for a couple months and now any battery new or old I get the exact same effect OP is experiencing. Any atomizer/cartomizer. The more the battery is drained the more frequent and shorter puffs i can take before I get the 888 on the screen and red yellow green button. I feel its getting worse too. At first it was a random hiccup, but now its a nuisance every time I go out. Store I bought it from obviously sympathetically denied any exchange, but offered to share the experience which means driving across town, just for them to say oh hey sorry, heh. I've got 18350 18650 18500's AW, Efest. All IMR batteries. So odd to say it but i miss seeing my batteries die:blink:, because they never even get a chance to get to yellow light before I need to put a freshly charged battery in it just to get a real puff. Some atomizers dont even work on it. I experience the "red ring of death" with some of my atomizers. I'm curious if what causes that "red ring of death" which I've read is a result of a short could be similar cause? So frustrating because you get something folks describe as solid and recommended and is cheaper than the others, but end up spending more to buy a new device and keep the svd as a 65 dollar paper weight. It sucks but its a relief to know that I'm not alone in this and not going crazy. Haven't seen many other similar descriptions to this problem and I really hope there's a fix for it.
