Hey all,

So I just purchased the iTaste SVD (my first mod) and I love it. I do have a question, however. In the user guide, it recommends using a specific type of battery. I was curious if anyone has had issues with batteries outside of the recommended ones, because they are 13 dollars a piece and I found 2 of a different brand for 8 dollars total. Anyone have any input on this?

Thanks in advance!

Are there any dangers in continuing to use my current ones until I get the money to purchase new batteries? I'm in between checks and in the middle of a move so money is a little tight.

If those are protected batteries you have, you run the risk of a) your SVD won't work, and b) you'll damaged your SVD permanently.

If they are unprotected, the will work... but you should buy high drain IMR or those hybrid Panasonics first chance you get. anything with CR in the name are not good for regulated mods.

I, too just got an SVD, and started up with the best batteries I could find...
I got these
Panasonic NCR18650PD for "big"
and these AW IMR 18490 for "medium"
And a Nitecore 4-batt charger

I figured, if I'm getting an SVD, I'm either going to love it, or move on to other mods that need those batteries - making the batteries the last place I'd want to cut corners. Took me a lot of reading to start getting the hang of what to get though - it IS kind of confusing terminology ("unprotected" being safer chemistry than "protected" for example)...

Just got my SVD today and very pleased with it. Just about done with an AW IMR 18350 that i popped in this morning.

Got Panasonic NCR18650B's on order and CGR18650CH is going in next. Got mine all labled up with dates, supplier and as un-protected to make sure there are no muppetry mistakes when i get a mech.

Stay safe, Stay well, dream well

Never use anything that starts with 'Ultra' in the name. I use 18650's in my high drain flashlights. Right now, I use Eagletach 3400mah 18650's. Kinda pricey @$20 a battery but worth it IMO. Probably the best 18650 out there. AW 18650's are good too. Those run around $15 a battery.
