Cody go for it mate,

I don`t think by wrapping half way around or even fully, would cause hotspots, and even if it did you can work them out by re-spacing the loops.

Terry's right. I actually remember seeing a build where the guy didn't even trap the wire under the screw. He was using a fairly thick gauge wire and just had the coil leg touching the terminal. I can't remember what the topper was and if it lasted or not. But as long as you make some sort of contact, it doesn't matter if you trap 1mm or 10mm under the screw :)

Do you actually wrap the tails around a screw, so not just trying to trap a bit of the wire, but say wrapping it right around the screw before you tighten down? I was thinking of trying that but thought it might cause a hotspot.

I've wrapped the tails around the screw 2x and also a 0.5 loop. I never saw any hot spots. I've got my propane, so once I get my new toppers in, I intend do a bit more coil building and try a mesh coil.

I have only tried using mesh once,

I just could not get it right, I watched countless vids on y/t and nothing would work. Ok i got 2 or 3 draws off it then pop, this happened loads of times so in the end i gave up. I have learned since that if you wrap it too tight, then this could be the problem.

When my ATTY arrives it comes with mesh, so just for novelty reasons i will give it another go.

Here you go Cody, just found this vid on the genuine Fogger set up, so I'd imagine the FT one will be similar. It does have raised posts, but their not slotted and it does look a bit awkward to do because of the raised edge catch cup. The Taifun I've ordered does look a lot easier to work with, cos you can push the catch cup down for better access to the coil screws :

Stick some cotton in it mate, you won't regret it. Just get the Wife to buy some cotton make up removal pads, that's what I use. I just cut a 2mm strip, wet my fingers, twist it so it holds together. Insert into coil, untwist to fluff it up a bit and your good to go.

I tried mesh a few times myself, always had a metallic taste no matter what I did. Cotton tastes great from the first hit, just make sure it's always juiced up

Best thing to do Lisa, is pulse the coil. Plenty of info on here about it. As long as the coil glows from the middle and slowly travels out towards the edges, you should never have a hotspot again

I have the FOGGER V2, no slots, I just wrap the leg around the screw and clip off the excess. I used one of the FT pre-made coils, don't like it, need to do my own for this one. The FT coils work Ok in EVOD's, but I have to take a couple of wraps off as the ohms are too high. They said 2 ohm, but reads 2.7 ohm if I don't remove a couple of wraps (down to 5 wraps).

I've found something similar myself with the FT coils Burnie. I bought some with the no res legs for my ithaka. Each coil I've had to play around with the spacing and take a wrap or 2 off each one. If I had a wire welder, I'd probably make my own, but the FT ones do the job ok with a bit of tinkering.

Yes she`s got the cotton balls Ian,

I actualy tried it once in an evod, but i think i used to much, as the draw was really tight.

The ones I use are a round circular pad of compressed cotton, really easy to cut in 2mm strips. In fact, I can get at least 5 wicks out of each pad. In an evod, you can probably use a 1mm strip, it won't tighten the draw too much then - also add a small flavour wick of 1mm silica or ekowool, that should do the trick mate :)

I'm looking forward to getting mine now mate. The display stand will be great too when it arrives - I'll be able to have even more gear at the side of me then ;) I'm just hoping the stand can take the weight, cos there's gonna be a LOT of stuff on it. I might have to reinforce it
