Still the same... dry hits all the way. My theory is that i need to improve the coil on the wick a little, keep it a little further away from the centre post as it seems to get pulled over towards it and most importantly to get my wrap a little looser... As it's the wick that seems to be the problem then i think Ian's original diagnosis of the wick getting choked is correct, and when i tried to loosen it up i went too far the other way, then when i tried to get in between too tight and too loose i screwed something else up. I think having to do a vertical wick for my first attempt is making it harder. When i looked at the coils on the RBA in the vape store today they looked so much more simple... just the wick in a kind of squashed down 's' shape and a 3/4 coil wrapped around it on the middle.

Terry - i think you may be right and i might just scale down to a simpler RBA to practice and get better at wrapping coils before going back to the aga. The main reason for getting it was that i wasnt getting the vape i wanted with my current tanks / attys but i'm really happy with the protank 2 on the provari now so not as big a rush :)

I did try that this morning, but the pics were hopeless - too out of focus. I've got an iphone i use for work, so if i try again tomorrow i will try a pic on that as it's likely to be a better quality camera, although i see my little lad on Sundays so i probably wont get another chance to have a go until next week now. Besides, you will laugh when you see it! ;)

Best thing to do with a vertical wick is keep the needle in the wick until it's sat right and you've tightened up the connections fully - it gives a bit of support by keeping the needle in place. Just remember to take it out before you vape ;)

Have a great time with your Son tomorrow if we don't see much of you on here. How old is he ?? Why not let him have a go at coiling for you, could provide hours of fun for you both

No worries at all Ian,

It was only about 8 quid, and i have had it a few months now. Honestly if you look how much i have saved, since packing cigs in; it is a drop in the ocean.

Well if you've got some spare dosh mate, I can give you a link to another co-op interest thread I'm going to be part of. For the Aspire tanks and heads ;)

LOL, he's 3.... cant see his coil building skills being up to much just yet (prob better than mine though!). I'm thinking of popping up to the lakes and going for a little trip round windermere on the ferry or something then a chippy tea :)

And the provari is going with me... no need to hide my mods at home any more... small enough that it doesnt bother me.

Sorry, i will stop going on about provaris by tomorrow... it's just first day novelty value ;)

Edit: I'll definitely give it a go leaving the needle / toothpick in until it's all sorted - one of these improvements is going to be the thing that gets it working for me :)

Gonna be a busy day for me tomorrow.

Got the F1 qualies and race to watch (recorded courtesy of Sky) - so no mention of results until later please Paul ;)

Clean out the car, cos I've just realised, I've not cleaned it since I gave up ciggies almost 7 months ago - wondered why it smelled so bad

Got some X9's to drill out, plus I might open up the airhole on the aga too.

On top of that, laundry, food shopping and some more re-coiling and battery charging.

There's no way I'll get it all done - so much for my day off :(

Ohhh i do! I did one this morning that was like a spring. When i was trying to even out the spaces between the wire, it was literally springing up and down on the wick. going from maybe 1 or 2mm apart then suddenly contracting to be on top of each other. It was like i had taken the spring off the battery cap and tried to thread my wick through it

I missed quali myself today. Does it really matter though... i think we all know who is going to win. It's almost as predictable as when Schumacher was at his peak!

Well get you puffing on that aga mate, no worries.

You'll have to join the secret Vari club now, with the special handshakes and one trouser leg rolled up - no wait that's the Freemasons

The other teams will catch up with RBR, it might not be this season. But next year with the new turbo engines coming in, I reckon it will throw up a few surprises. F1 is about the only sport I follow to be honest, just can't get enough of it. Does annoy me that I have to record sessions though, work always gets in the way :(

i forgot about the F1 today

my brother came visiting

 That's like forgetting to get dressed in the morning

On the day I got married (many years ago), I made sure that it was after the F1 race at Belgium had finished. You can get married any time, but F1 is for life

you could anneal the wire first cody,

That will soften it and take the spring out of it.

I always torch the wire first, makes it a lot easier to work with. Then once you've rolled the perfect coil, torch it again. Just don't burn your fingers, like I did the first time
