Excellent news Bob, glad you got it sorted out. When I drill my airholes, I use a good set of mole grips. Wrap insulation tape around the topper, so the mole grips don't mark it. Then I do the drilling outside, with the topper resting between two flagstones. You don't need the mole grips very tight, because the two flagstones help stop the topper from moving. As long as you've got a sharp drillbit, preferably a diamond tipped one, it only takes a second or two to do. In fact, I drilled out the airhole in a kayfun base using this method, took 5 seconds maximum. Just wear gloves in case the drill slips.
I've got one of those, have to use it to undo the iClears when I first buy them, innokin seem to enjoy tightening them up real hard.
Don't think I'd trust myself to doing it your way, I've always been quite useless at DIY
haven't got any diamond tips, only titanium, will they do?
good when you get older and start forgetting things
