When I do a new sample mix, I always start off small. Your base mix will store for a few months when mixed up.

I'm thinking to keep it very simple to start with, and I do like the ready made concentrates that don't involve mixing of flavours etc., which advise 15-20%. If I start with 15%, it'll be easy to add a couple of drops more gradually until I get what I want if 15% isn't enough.
I want a no-brainer really, so, if I get 9ml of VG and add 1ml/17 drops of the nicotine (whichever is least), what is 15% flavouring on top of that ? (I'm not trying to make a 10ml bottle, but a basic 10ml with flavouring added on top to simplify it.)
Sounds dim I know, but Percentages and mls. sounds a bit confusing to me and I only want to try this one thing for now.

I'd rather try something with simple quantities for now, and 10ml seems a good size to add things to.
I have a ready made concentrate for Vanilla Ice Cream which is what I want to do first.

I use this
eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator
Does the math for you. Just fill in the blanks on what you want and click calculate, and it tells you how much of what to mix. Hope that helps.

Trish if i have done the calculations right, 40 drops of flavouring will give you 20%, so adding 30 drops should give you 15 %

Well, I didn't want to say anything but you already get percentages and mg mixed up 0.6mg instead of 6mg 0.6 is the percentage, quickly goes and hides under the bed

Thanks Burnie! I've saved the link :)

That sounds easy to adjust up or down ...thank you :2cool:
Units of 10 are simple and I'm less likely to get it wrong!

What stength nic is it again trish ?
It's this one from CV: PHARMACEUTICAL GRADE UK SOURCED
72MG (7.2%) VEGETABLE GLYCERINE NICOTINE.
You worked out that 17 drops or 1ml would give me the 0.6mg strength.

Well, I didn't want to say anything but you already get percentages and mg mixed up 0.6mg instead of 6mg 0.6 is the percentage, quickly goes and hides under the bed
Ah well, you knew what I meant! No need to hide!

Yep you got it trish, 9 ml of vg base, 1 ml or 17 drops of nic to give you 6 mg, then 30 drops of your flavouring to give you 15 %. :) Just wish i could get rid of this bloody toothache, had it about a week now and i am struggling eating with it. Trip to the dentist beckons i think. :(

Thanks! That keeps it simple and easy to keep right. Not after n'th degree accuracy but just wan to keep it safe and best likely to succeed! :)

I've got a lot of work to get through in the next couple of months ..or at least try to get through, and my concentration isn't at it's best for a start. The easier/quicker trying to make a bottle of something, the better! :)

Yes, dentist most likely to sort that out! If it's not an obviously bad tooth, it could be an abscess or an infection perhaps in your gum.
Have you got any Beechams Powders? If so, add one to a little water and swill it around the tooth then hold it for a little while before swallowing it all. Then an hour or so later, follow with something like 2 Anadin ultra capsules (or other Ibuprofen), or two Paracetamol. See if that helps for now.

Thanks Trish, i have been taking ibuprofen and they are helping. It just seems to flare up now and then which makes me think it could be a bit of infection. I have got some beechams, so i will give that a go before i go to bed tonight, otherwise i will be nodding off.

Ian - know you were looking for a bigger RDA recently, just found this on POTV

That's a beast Bob. Thanks for the link mate, I've saved the UK site in favourites for now, their a good price too. I'm going to wait and see how I get on with the Stillares from FT first. But if their a success, I'll be giving those quad coil beasts a try too

Terry, Bob and Burnie seem to have got it all covered for you Trisha. Sorry I wasn't around, I've been playing with my D-Eagle

That looks lovely Bob. To be honest, I would have jumped on that without blinking, but I really need to cut back on spending til after my hols - I won't have any spending money otherwise

I do appreciate the info though, so cheers for thinking about me :D

Ouch, sounds painful mate. Pretty sure the Wife gave me some Clove oil to use last time I had toothache, but I'm not 100%, so probably best to google it first.

I wouldn't have thought Beechams powders would make you sleepy as they're pretty mild stuff, but you know your limitations with such things :) Doubling up alternate types of pain relief every two hours can make a big difference.
Ian is quite right about clove oil for toothache, and it's an old remedy ...just doesn't taste brilliant! Can make the surrounding gum sore if not used carefully.

Hey, whatever floats your boat Ian! ...not a problem - I know that a few of you know what you're talking about with such things :)
I just wanted a very simple method for now!

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I've had trouble concentrating on my work for some months now and keep falling asleep at my easel ...more often than not without any warning and will drop off with brush poised mid way between palette and canvas! I even fall head first onto the easel or painting sometimes.
I know I work very late, and often don't get my full quota of sleep, but I coped quite well with it until recent months. I think perhaps I've overdone trying to work later and later to catch up.

I used to work from around 11am through to perhaps 12 to 12.30 midnight. But, when my husband retired 8 years go, I started and finished work later in the day due to there being far more interruptions around. That worked OK until earlier this year when I found it harder to concentrate in the same way, so am getting less work completed.

Seems a coincidence that it's only been since I stopped smoking. What I'm wondering is, was there something in my cigarettes apart from nicotine that aided concentration?

Possible, might look at WTA, is 100% VG. Here is a thread to give you some info.
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-liquid-discussion/553603-my-experience-wta.html

Here are the 3 places I know that sell it,
Unflavored WTA Whole Tobacco Alkaloid 20 MG
Mothers Milk WTA :: 15ml Unflavored WTA
wholecig.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=93&product_id=104

I Have tried all 3, and here is my thread on the subject.
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/554277-where-best-wta-unflavored.html

You don't vape it by itself, you mix it at 5% to 10% in your regular juice, Hope that helps.

Glad to hear that clove oil does work Trisha, I thought it did. Just didn't want to recommend something and have Terry grow boobs instead

You'll be fine with the mixing, no need to worry. As others have said 1ml equals roughly 17-20 drops.

Well the nicotine in e-liquid should act in the same way as the nicotine in cigs, ie a mild stimulant. But who knows what other nasty chemicals are in cigs that actually increase the effects. I wouldn't think there's anything in e-liquid that would make you feel drowsy.
