When I heard about the tax on cigs being passed for next month making new york the highest taxed state for cigarettes I was worried. Then a coworker told me about these e cigs last week. Well I'm no longer worried, and it's not about the money it's about the health but damn not ha\/ing to pay 11 bucks for a pack of Newports or 60 for a carton at the rez is gonna sa\/e me a lot of money. They are e\/en trying to make it so if your not nati\/e american you can't but untaxed cigs at the rez, Which screws o\/er the nati\/e american's because they will ha\/e to pay taxes on any cigs they buy then they will get a credit or \/oucher for any of those cigs that were personal because they can't be taxed... It's going to be a mess, well sorry about the long rant (hopefully I read all the info right on this). So, lol back to my original question, Anyone quit this week and was it because of this tax and what are your thoughts?

EDIT:
sigh keep forgetting to mention my \/ key is broken on this laptop :( it's a POS

The state minimum for a carton of Marlboro is $76. Starting Sept 1 they will increase the NY excise tax by $1.60 a pack. That would make the state min $9. Its higher in NYC by another $2 I believe.

It's my understanding the $1.60 extra starts 01jul10.

The 01sep10 thing is collecting taxes on the reservations. Better people
have tried numerous times in the past and have failed. The Indians will
just shut down parts of the NYS Thruway that goes across their land. Again.

And you know what?... I hope it gets REALLY violent this time.

Regardless, I'll be stocking on NA pyros (I am a self-confessed bi-smokeual)
before 01sep10
