According to The growth of the e-cig industry - JSOnline the e-cigarette industry will quadruple by 2014 making it a billion dollar industry.

As big tobacco bleeds profits from vaping they will surely inject funding into lobbying vaping away and effectively surging cigarette sales across the board.

But, this would be much easier to do while the industry is still in it's infancy. I believe they are not pushing (or pushing very hard) to ban vaping because they realize the profit potential is much greater for them if they adapt and overcome. It is my personal belief that instead of a ban tobacco companies will introduce there own lines of juice and equipment in the future to supplement the lost profits while minimizing loss of customer loyalty.

I also believe that IF the FDA approves vaping....You will see juice from a ton of major food and beverage companies.

There is a cool tech factor playing on the minds of vapors. Much like Facebook did to social media vaping will do for smoking, drinking,?, in the years to come.

Cmon, a night club full of people vaping? Vaping lounges/bars all over? Branded vape ad's like, Marlvape,Camelvape,Cokevape,Pepsivape,Vitaminvape etc. It's so easy to see thats not only plausible but inevitable.

Just my thoughts. :)

Blue Electronic Cigarettes were recently sold to a major tobacco company. I believe they are preparing to sell both tobacco AND vaping supplies...best of both worlds, a win-win proposition.

Absolutely. That will buy them time until vaping becomes the norm and then they can subsidize the tobacco farmers to grow the real future cash crop. Corn.

BTW....i love that pic!

I have been telling people there's over 180 companies in mass production, but I reckon that's conservative now. I can tell you it's the fastest growing FMCG product category in the UK. Totally agree with stinknugget on the future I think it is bright and steamy.

I've heard of a few tobacco firms getting in on the act finally WE have got their attention- and it's all thanks to public vapers so congrats!

An old job I had last year had me based next door to BAT's legal dept. and I attracted a lot of attention!

I think in 10yrs PV's will be an everyday item for most of the public, with all manner of ingredients. Sadly I think the black market will also generate 'flavours' that we should be wary of....

One thing, we dont really want tobacco growers to stop, I for instance love the organic natural , actual tobacco flavor in my juice and Im sure all the other tobacco aficionados out there will attest to how different artificially tobacco tastes compared to juice infused with real tobacco leaf extracts. We just need to make sure enough farmers out there stay growing and product high quality plants so they are actually tasted and appreciated in a juice form. Face it no matter how much quality in the plants go, eventually most of the tobacco goes into the mass produced cigarettes, mixed in with 1000s of other chemicals. Basically when smoking the average cig do we really taste tobacco? So anyway dont villanize tobacco growers, because we need our leaves.

I wasn't villanizing tobacco growers. On the contrary, I have great respect for farmers. I was just stating a possibility. As demand drops so do the farmers profits. An obvious solution would be to grow corn as corn is what they would be growing without the tobacco industries subsidies anyway. Im generalizing ofcourse. But the majority would have to go where uncle sams throwing the most money at. Unless the fed plans on legalizing ......... in the next few years lol, then that moneys gonna stick on corn.

Im sorry if using your quote seemed like I thought you were villanizing the farmers. I was making a general statement because most people who dont smoke or did smoke tend to forget that tobacco itself is not an evil thing, its the other ingredients that the big companies seem to think is needed in cigarettes. If really good cigarettes werent so impossible to get or afford, I probably still be smoking cigarettes. Its unfortunate that most people never really experienced what a real cigarette could taste and smell like. Its like trying to compare a good new york steak to a cheap "meat flavored" hot dog( btw, I love a good all beef frank). I really enjoy vaping and all that goes with it. I have more of a choice when I chose an ejuice. I know what is in it for the most part. Its clean.

Well I could be wrong, but I'd imagine that one of the easiest ways to get nicotine is still from the tobacco plant, not to mention tobacco flavours and scents (it's used a lot in the perfume industry). I think that people will also buy their own tobacco to get nicotine. Whilst the worldwide level of tobacco consumption will take a hit, there should still be a reasonable anmount of business. Meantime, those who stick with smoking/smoke ocassionally may begin to seek a better product with fewer dangerous additives and better tobacco.

The real concern with tobacco companies getting involved is the manipulation of regulations. They already have plenty of lobbyists at their disposal. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't mind a regulation that restricted juice purchases to pre-filled cartos and perhaps what kinds of devices they can fit in as well. Maybe even restrict things to disposable only.

That Blu commercial is the wrong message all around. I can smoke anywhere is not the message we want to send about vaping.
