Just my opinion here @DeAnna2112 but think the mods woulds prefer us goofing around here instead of other posters coming here and bashing Andria which is kind of what started to happen. Personally I really like Andria and hopes if she decides to poke back in here every once in a while she will see how much fun we are having. Plus its better to go off topic here than to veer off in a more important thread. Then we'd really get in trouble.![]()
Precisely.
Well it's funny how "off topic" works in one thread yet other threads gets closed for "off topic" reasons
We walk a fine line as moderators. We get criticized when we close threads prematurely (or what is perceived as prematurely). We get accused of censorship, when another forum is hinted at, if we close threads that even hint at a different forum.
We do not tolerate bashing of another forum. Period.
If I take a touchy subject and direct it in a different way, is that terribly wrong? Would you rather I just close it down and leave people feeling like we are intolerant? Fine lines. We are people. We just happen to have a love for ECF and all the help that it has given us and want to do our best to help ECF stay the great forum it is.
We are not allowed to talk about other members to the general membership. I think that is absolutely the best way. No one would want us to talk about them to other members. That would be very unethical. I've stated as much as I can, earlier in the thread. I do hope everyone understands that I will not elaborate.
Again, moderators are human and some things are gray areas and we do the best we can. We try to let things settle themselves down on their own. If they can't, then we step in. If stepping in and telling people to stay on topic it is usually because things are getting a bit too intense and if they stay on the subject, it tends to cool things down a bit.
I try to use the tools that I have to divert, settle, or downright tell people to chill. I would rather do that then hand out Rule Reminders or Infractions.
I will be moving the thread to the lounge later as it has pretty much evolved into a fun thread.
