Hello world, just a quick question here. Has anyone noticed a flavor difference between the stainless LR901's(1.8) and the new stealth 901's(1.8)? I've been doing a side by side for a few day's now, and I see one, or is it all in my head! I've been using both on an empire mod, with caramel cookie juice(70/30 pg/vg). I just take a few puffs on one, then switch it. Now with the original LR 901, I get tremendous flavor, vapor, and throat hit is perfect. But with the stealth, flavor is decreased, vapor is the same, but throat hit is more intense. Also the stealth drips out of the hole with a couple of drops, but not on the stainless original! (but that don't really mater with a drip shield). So do new internals play a part in this? If so, I really hope when the stainless LR901's come back, they are still the same!! :vapor:

Hey tat thought I'd bump it up for my favorite atty anyways as far as flavor difference I did notice during break in that it did taste different. Other than that my stealth version seems to eat juice n give me dry hits more often than my stainless. On a related note I tried out the new batch of gold v2 cartos and they are completely diff than the earlier batch I got. In that the center tube is smaller and seated farther down in the new batch which has basically killed my love for a great carto because the tube blocks the side air holes on the thread end. Makes me feel like I'm trying to slur a really thick milk shake

I too use ikv 1.8 ohm 901s on my empire and have noticed a difference in performance between the stainless steel & stealth versions. The airflow seems to decrease quite quickly when dripping with the stealths. To make matters worse, the dripshield restricts airflow even more, to the point where I can hardly get any vapor production whatsoever. I thought it must've all been in my head, too, but then I saw this thread.

So it's not all in my head(yours too), I decided to use another 2(1 stainless and 1 stealth) just for the sake of retesting for a difference, and theres still a noticeable difference. Flavor is still way weaker on the stealth, and throat hit is still more intense, but have no problem with vapor production. I am also noticing a more restricted airflow also on the stealth 901 when using dripshield. I feel proper airflow is key when it comes to flavor.

The 901 is a finicky atty to drip with (side hole) they always have been, even the generic 901s. Yes the drip shield tightens the draw somewhat and it is to be expected. OTOH with a drip shield it is easy to flood the atty = less vapour production as you don't see the leakage that would normally occur from over dripping.

I raised the subject with Isaac after he got back and hasn't responded here. They are identically built, with the exception of the powder coating.

During BETA testing or blind testing at times it does seem like there may be a slight difference in performance and these normally get reported in the review, as we do not know if A is suppose to perform better than B etc... During post mortems, I found at times different coloured wires between the two test subjects, again thinking that perhaps this bit of info is important - apparently not as they use the wires on hand, not always black & white or black & red, I even tested one that was black & blue.

After the results from the BETAs are in, this is where the improvements if any, get submitted to the mfr for final runs. No two atties vape the same, they are similar but they do not vape the same. Is it subjective? I would have to say yes to a point, but I would bet dollars to donuts that removing the powder coating and vaping them both as stainless, you would tell there is a difference. OTOH you would not know which one was stainless and which one was not.

Thanks switched for chiming always glad to have an ikv elder report in with his findings. All that being said about diff between powder vs stainless i actually prefer my powder because of the throat hit. But I'm using it on a VMU at about 3.65v with a ikv adapter and no drip shield
