So I tried asking the dude that runs Backwoodsbrew and asked about flavoring in his malt juice, and he was about as helpful as a screen door on a submarine. When people describe ECOpure they say "malt". Malt as in what? Like ice cream malt? Malt from hops? Malt used to bake bread? every google search for malt flavoring turns up beer making malt. Which is filled with sugar. There is a malt extract from naturesflavor but it is in a gum arabic base. PA has malted milk flavor but I don't want to pull the trigger on that yet. Anybody have suggestions? I know there are a lot of pros here.

In the interest of science and DIY, and because I have some malt extract left over from DIY beer brewing.

I dissolved some brewer's malt extract in PGA, and added 1/2 mL to 4 1/2 mL unflavored 30mg nic juice, and
vaping it on a 306 atty at 3.7v, and it does have a distinct malt flavor, very nice. Long term atty damage yet
to be determined. (306 cleans up easy enough) but no discernible reside left so far.

EcoPure is malt flavored? A good place to buy ethyl maltol is also ecigexpress. Their "signature" line is also Flavor (Perfumer's) Apprentice and you are looking for cotton candy flavor.

wrong malt, I'm pretty sure we're talking malt extract to replicate the flavor and not a sweetener. I think Stosh is on the right track.

Yeah, I realized that looking again today but someone was talking about where to get ethyl maltol.

I just got a bunch of unloved FA flavors coming to me and I think there is a decent amount of Barley flavor, which I believe is supposed to be malty. I don't have any ecopure to compare to though.

Nope. The Wench and Apri are on the right track.

Really? Again I haven't tried ECOpure so IDK.

.... I would be curious what Stosh's malt juice tastes like....

It's a very dry, full malt flavor, the sweetness does not come thru, more of a malted milk flavor
without the milk. Might try some sweetner in it, might make it more like a English Brown Ale,
malty with some sweet element. Malt is the primary flavor in beer, IF the hop level is low,
hops simply add flavor to beer (floral, spicy, etc..).

edit: seen some beer flavored juice out there, never tried it, but it should be MALT flavored????

I have FA beer and oakwood included with the malt on the way, should get it sometime next week. I think it is like 25ml of Barley, so probably way more than I need if anyone wants to swap some ECOpure for flavorings. Where can you buy this stuff though? I'm miffed by Intellicig over something else, so no way I am ordering from them ever. I see it at notcigs, 5ml=$5! I'd love to reverse engineer this stuff.

When I get some extra cash I'm going to try this; EM dissolved into VG (if it doesn't dissolve well in VG, dissolve into DW then add to Vg+nic juice. DW would also help thin it out a little which could also contribute to the "clean" taste people get from ECOpure) then add some barley flavor from FA as well as some of the vape wizard for some extra body. Sound good peeps?

Cignots carries it too.

The TA was just a guess based on the description and the ingredients of the Fresh. I've not had much experience with the Rich. They all seem to be light, so I don't think it takes a whole lot of flavoring..

Whoops, I meant cignot. I think it was Innovapor I came across also selling some sort of overhyped (?) VG. I know people say there is some difference between types of VG, so I still need to look into it. There's some sort of special VG made by Dow, but I haven't found a place to buy it yet.

Have you tasted EM alone to think it is what is in EcoPure? EM dissolves about twice as well in alcohol than in PG, then I imagine water is a little under PG and VG somewhere worse. If you know you are adding water, I would try to dissolve the EM as much as possible in the water, giving it a hot bath first. I'm not sure about the vape wizard... It is very dark but I am guessing ECOpure is clear. MTS also has a characteristic smell to it with a noticeable amount of something like cinnamon, so I'm not sure how well that will work. Maybe it improves the vape, but probably isn't reproducing EP.

interesting idea.

I wonder if you could do the same thing with all grain. Maybe add some crystal 120 for a darker, more molassesy taste, crystal 20 for a lighter taste. Might warrant further investigation. Next time I brew, I might take out a syringe of the mash before boiling and experiment.

Further, I wonder what vaping wort would taste like. You'd get the hops flavor as well as the malt.

Your wort would probally be too dilute to use as a juice flavoring, unless you boiled the all grain
down to the concentration of a malt extract. Hmmm, maybe a hop tea to add some interesting
flavor to my juice, thinking, East Kent Goldings, one of my all time favorites.

good point, boiling down to a higher OG might be necessary. I've never seen an IPA juice before, I wonder what the heat would do to the alpha acids?

May need to do a VERY strong hop tea or the boiling would drive off too many of the
hops volatile and numerous acids and componds.
Interesting idea....
