I'm very new to vaping and I've only used a tank with dual coil carto in it so far. I was looking at these self-contained units and thought they looked a bit more hassle free. Any info or experience with these would be great.

The ones I am looking at are SmokTech 5ml Dual Coil Cartomizers.

I hope I put this in the right place. Still new to the forum as well. Thank you for your patience.

They are a good performing carto. I'm not a huge fan of dual coils anymore, so I don't really use them these days, but they perform pretty much exactly the same as a regular sized dual coil carto.

Although I have had some issues with thick juice, I tried Pluid in one, and I couldn't chain vape it, or else it would start giving dry hits. I imagine it's because there is so much additional distance the juice has to wick to get to the coil, and when you combine that with a thick juice you end up having to wait a few seconds between drags, and topping the carto off a lot more than its capacity would lead you to believe. It does hold a good solid 4ml of juice or so, but I find I usually would top up when the carto was probably around 2ml or so.

That's the nice thing about tanks, you can suck every big of juice into your smaller diameter carto, but with the fat cartos you have a bit of "wasted" juice space, because there is still juice left in all that filler, but not enough for a quality vape.

I'm a big chain vaper, so that's good to know. I think I'll stick with my tank. I just need to learn how to fiddle with the cartomizers a bit better. Some are fantastic and some are terrible.

---- I've been using the smoktech 6ml locking tank with dual coil cartomizers at 1.5 on my eGo C VV Twist. Not really sure what to set it at, but I go back and forth between the lowest setting and 4.0.

It shouldn't be a huge issue unless you are using a rather thick juice (high in VG or just thick in general) but IMHO a tank is better overall than the mega cartos.

You should give single coil cartos a try, for the power that a vv eGo can supply I'd bet you'd be much happier with the performance of a single coil. You probably won't have to turn up the voltage as high either, as ST's 1.5ohm DC cartos have a pair of 3ohm coils in side, which soak up a lot of power.

With a single coil 2.0ohm you'll be able to play around with different power levels a bit more, as with 1.5ohm stuff, the amp limit kicks in on those VV egos and you can't turn them up very far before they just stop upping the voltage any more.

But if you're happy with your current setup by all means keep doing what your doing, SC vs DC is just a personal preference.

Hope this helps!

I've been using a 5ml tank with dual coils and I'm happy with them. I switched over to single coils a week or so ago to try them out. I'd heard that they use less juice and battery. I used it for 20 minutes and went back to the dual coil. For me the single coils didn't produce nearly as warm a vape as the duals do. But that's just my preference. If you decided to try the single coils, don't buy 12 of them like I did :)

I have a couple of those...were included with another buy. I do prefer the single coil version. You can get a 510 drip tip adapter for the also. I had a pipe stem set up for these which is why I tried them and was really surprised at how well they performed.

If you do a search for EMDCC you'll find lots of discussion..pretty much the same thing(if not the exact same carto). I started out on them and while I didn't mind them..I found much more enjoyment when I switched to LR single coils on my ego batteries. Don't have the juice capacity but I find the flavor to be better and the draw to feel much more natural, as well.

Yes, they're known as the EMDCC, or eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer. That's the clear, plastic version. There's also a black metal version.

Someone linked to the EMSCC, or eGo Mega Single Coil Cartomizer, up above. I think these perform better than the dual coils. I have noticed a problem with the clear ones. The mouthpiece can be stuck in them, and since they're plastic, they can be broken by trying to get the mouthpiece out. Go with the black metal ones. If the mouthpiece gets stuck in them, they won't break.

Hmmm, I've never seen those before. I always use the Stardust clearos with my eGo batteries. Single coil, don't hold as much juice as I'd like, but they work like a champ for me. My normal companion is my ProVari with 6ml DCT tank but when I go out for the night sometimes I don't feel like carrying that around with me so opt for my eGo & Stardust. The clearo & battery holds enough juice & power for me to make it through the night. I'm thinking that dual coil deal would kill my battery too soon.

I love my locking 6ml SmokTech tanks... now have 4 of 'em, and haven't touched my colored tanks since. No more pulling the tank off my VMAX and dumping my fluid! (running 2.0 ohm cartos right at 3.8v -- very HAPPY place!!)
