Hello
I'm desperate to continue esmoking, but i am having problems with BOTH pg and vg. Both make my throat too dry and i lose my voice. I tried drinking 2-3 L day of water, but it did not help the throat problem.

O.K. 2 last trys:
1.) Did anyone have throat problems with pg and vg but NOT PEG? PEG is the non-pg formula from nuvape. Please post i need your input!
Should I try the nuvape? Any opinions?

2.) Can i use a diy liquid of 60% alcohol, 20 % vg and 10% flavoring? Will it work, or is the alcohol not conducive to vaping in such high amounts?

3.) If you had the sore throat problems with vaping, Are there any brands, combinations, flavorings, etc, that did not bother your throat?

Thanks as always. I love this forum and want to stay, but i'm losing hope.

Can I check if you have used VG manufactured liquids like ECOPure or the old NPG formula Johnson Creek or have you been diluting PG juice with VG?

Reason I ask is that I have sensitivity to PG - sore throat among other issues. If I use a PG liquid and cut it with VG I still get a symptoms. However if I use VG manufactured like Ecopure I get no sensitivity issues.

1) I have tried PEG (not from NuVape) and I got exactly the same bad symptoms as with PG liquids. According to my experience if you have PG sensitivity you will have PEG sensitivity.

I basically can only use VG based liquids.

2) As far as I am aware that would be too much alcohol (but someone more knowledgeable than me will no doubt give you a more scientific answer).

3) What strength of nicotine is in the liquids you have been using? I tend to find the higher the nic content the higher the throat hit and too much of this can lead to a sore throat. One way to test this is to just basically vape pure VG or PG plus a drop of Lorann flavouring or small amount of menth crystal - this will let you know if it is the nic that is causing it.

i have tried 4 flavors of non PG from nuvape and yeah i do notice my throat gets a little dry but its not so bad that i have to stop. and i switch out with ECOpure every other cart. Nuvape's nonPG is actually PEG (polyethyleneglycol) another variant of PG. when i vape their stuff i feel it as i exhale which to me is better than on the inhale. i also cut it with VG for more vapor. but again that is just me!

I've only been vaping for about 1 month... so I'm no expert on this. I could not handle PG. My throat would feel like I was swallowing razorblades for several days. I made the switch to VG and found success. I thought I'd also give the PEG a try. I had no big reaction to the PEG. It has a throat hit, but it doesn't leave you with a sore throat for days. You could try cutting the PEG with some VG. Also, make sure the VG liquid that gave you problems doesn't have any PG in it's flavorings. Even though it's a VG base, most flavorings have PG in them.

Best of luck. Hopefully PEG works out.

I've been using PG for the past 4 days and had to quit I was having some weird reactions to it anxiety, panic, not being able to focus and some blurred vision. I just ordered some Ecopure all VG based and I hope it does me well... I didn't have the normal bad reactions to PG though... I love my e-cig and now I have to wait for the mail man before I can start to Vape again. I had smoked analogs for about 20 years then I got hooked on chewing tobacco for the last 2 years.. I hope the VG works out for me.

When you say you've tried both PG & VG, what exactly have you tried? (ie which makes / flavours.... they aren't all the same!)

It may help people identify different options for you.

OK, I've tried the carts that came with the 401 and the 510 (both PG). I've also tried Walrus' juice (pg/vg/flavors). My last ditch effort was my homemade vg with Lorann's flavoring mixtures.

So you have't actually tried any truly commercially produced e-liquids up to this point. If you are having a reaction to PG, you may be reacting to the flavours that contain PG as well.

May I suggest that you try some ECOpure? It's a commercially produced VG liquid that contains the fewest ingredients of any liquid currently on the market. It's made in the UK by intellicig, but I know it's sold in the US in a few places.... might be worth trying a bottle as it is a very smooth vape and may sort you out.

(I think innovapor do sell sample bottles so wouldn't need to splash out much cash to try).

Greetings, although I have not been making my own juice very long (couple of days actually) I have been reading a lot in thes forums, researching a bunch of sites that sell this stuff, and I can already tell you from what you have said so far - that you have not really tried anything without PG in it - for instance...

I just made some Butter Rum juice:
VG, LorAnn ButterRum Flavor, Distilled Water, Vodka
(Very tasty - me likes it - anyway...)

Guess what the first ingredient in LorAnn flavoring is? -> PG <-

I would suggest you do try a few other things before just writing off your e cig most certainly. I hate that you have to waste any money in doing so, but I would definately invest in a few different types of well known juice, and give them a try.

Be sure to use a clean cart on each one, and I'm betting you'll find your perfect match in no time! :)

Take care,
- Hap

O.K. maybe i haven't been thorough with my list of what i've tried.

I've tried:
1.) the carts that came with my 410 from sharpsmoker i think (i'm guessing PG based)
2.) the carts that came with the 510 from innovapor. RIch ecopure i think in high nic (i'm guessing vg based)
3.) the sample bottle of ecopure rich very high (i thought this was plain ecopure, but there's a tiny label on the BOTTOM of the bottle) (i'm guessing vg based)
4.) plain vg in 2 different brands
5.) vg mixed with lorann's (all of the lorann's i tried had PG except for the cheesecake flavor which did not list pg in the list of ingredients).
6.) Walrus' eliquids which i believe contain both PG and VG (and flavoring)
7.) CHOCOLATE MINT, MR BEAN, PINA COLADA, TABOO FLAVORING, COOL RUSH "flavorings" from liquidxpress.

Trapped within my imagination
Wow, I feel for you.... As far as the lorann/capella flavs ect...There are now suppliers that have sites that will custom make it ANYWAY you want... Talk to Dawn at ecigsmokestore and she will work with you to help you find something that might work- make sure you give her your complete history ( and she sends/sells 3 ml bottles)...Also My freedom smokes and several others...
Keep in mind that dry/sore throat is very common your first few weeks of vaping, it does go away....I wish I could find the post that Mrs Cash from PureSmoker made.....She said she had a horrible time at first...And not just sore throat..but, body aches, ........, flue like symptoms etc....After a few a week or two she thought ecigs were for the birds and tossed it aside.... About a week later she picked it back up..Expecting all the old symtoms and didnt even get a sore throat...She had worked her way through the allergy....
Only you know your body and how much you're willing to go through and for how long...(smile)
I'd definitely try to get Dawn at ecigsmokestore to try and work with you.... I am shocked that the Ecopure didn't work for you...bummer.... The very best of luck

If all else fails keep in the back of your mind for the future the Iota (sp) research that device..I think you can vape stuff that is not an e-liquid with it

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I came across this in my search and it's very relevant so I didn't want to start a new thread.

I tried PG and PEG twice, the first time I decided to get my nic cut with PG for a change, went to bed with a dry throat and woke up with no voice and a killer throat ache - it went away after a few days of drinking LOTS of water (plus the normal soothers etc)

Second time I got some PEG in a PIF thread, I mixed up a bottle to my normal recipe and hey presto, after a few days of vaping it I am sat here with no voice (croaky, gone completely sometimes, not really sore unless I use it a lot)

I've been to the docs and he said it might be laryngitis but he's not entirely sure, plus it doesnt matter because whatever it is will go away by itself with fluid intake etc.

I threw the atty and went back to my normal VG mix, still haven't got my voice back yet but I know it will be back soon enough. I am upping my water intake again though (hard for me to drink lots of fluid as I never have done - I don't even drink with meals, weird)

With a few exceptions (trying out new stuff) I've used the same flavouring all along, the same VG, the same site (LF), so in my case the only variable was the PG/PEG in both cases. I live in a house of 7, 5 of which are our kids and they catch everything before us so I can (almost) safely rule out any other infection/illness.

SO, moral? ummm I guess I think that some people have voice loss issues with PG/PEG, IMHO of course and everything is subjective.

Anyway sorry for posting on such an old thread but if I found it then someone else might when looking for an answer/help :)
