Since you're looking for input; I'll put this in . . . . when drilling metal, as you may already know, you want to be able to go slow. This drill is variable speed, but you don't know how delicate or precise the trigger is. It doesn't have a fast/slow setting. It's max speed is 1,500 which is pretty fast. There, now i've put that in :)

I just drilled mine out to 1/8" 2 days ago so I could us the 7/64 ceramic wicks with it. You don't need an expensive drill just make sure it's variable speed. Unless you just want a cordless you can usually find electric drills cheaper and for occasional use I prefer them. You'll want to take it slow as said above.

IMO more important than the drill..other than it being variable speed is the bit, I used a sharp Cobalt Bit. I didn't have a clamp so I had to hold it by hand which I wasn't sure about but it went fine. I took it in steps, started with a 7/64" bit which cut through easy then went to 1/8" which caught once or twice but I just backed it off and kept at it, took about 10 min.
