Growing up, we had only black and white TV, cable hadn't been invented yet. The TV Guide was a few pages stapled in the middle, and cost 10 cents. LOL! I can remember when color first started being available in TV shows, and the ones broadcast in color had a little "C" in a TV-screen shape next to the name of the program. It was so exciting!

Cable TV has been around since the latter part of the 40's, it brought local stations to people who couldn't receive an over the air signal.

It HAS? I never heard of it, but then I grew up in Portland, Oregon. Maybe they had it out here (the prairie, 100 miles from anywhere) back in the 40s, but it's gone now. There's actual cable in South Dakota, but it's not available this far out. Only near "cities," so the rest of us have satellite dishes if we want TV.

We were the only house in the whole block that had TV!!! I was really popular ..everyone wanted to come to my house to watch hop a long Cassidy and howdy doody... there was no color TV for awhile and no portable tvs ..they all came in a cabinet!!! That should date me pretty good..lol!!
