Brings back memories of a Thanksgiving a few years back up in Alaska.
**Tall tale alert**
My best buddy ( a WW2 vet) needed a knee replacement at the VA Hospital in Anchorage..7 hour drive in the dead of Winter! When we got to his late sister's place, no one was home...He said he would just get in like he always does...and that all I had to do was shimmy myself up to the second floor balcony...and that the sliding door was probably unlocked

...scheesh!!
Then , on the day of the surgery, they wouldn't let his rig on the base ...cracked windshield, bald tires, no muffler..hmmm) so we ended up taking a taxi in.
After he got out of surgery, I settled myself in for the night in the recliner in his hospital room (like I always do with my fam and friends) ..but then graveyard shift came on and becuz i wasn't "family".. the hard core nurse
threw me out. ( and no, I couldn't lie

)
Course I was a PITA, and didn't have cab fare, so VA picked up the taxi tab and dropped me off back at his sister's place. (This time I had a key!

) A day or 2 later...and another taxi trip back to the base to pick him up.
I told him I didn't think his sister liked me sleepin in her room...I'd been sleepin with the light on for 2 days

...and he just LAUGHED!!

I asked if he would swap me rooms and he said "No way. His sister never liked for anybody to sleep in her room." Thanks, John

The 2 of us ended up having 2 Hungry Man Turkey Dinners for Thanksgiving!
And it's still one of my best Thanksgivings to date
