So sorry to hear that.
Three huge dogs across the street from me come over anytime they feel like it and kill my cats. Animal control does nothing to help either. Last month I had to nearly beat one out of my yard with a pipe.
That is ridiculous. I am so sorry.....

It is since my pets are like my children to me.
And if you shot their dogs, you would probably be the one to get in trouble. I remember in my area, a few years back someone was out in their yard when he was approached by a bear. The bear attacked his dog and he shot and killed it. He ended up getting charged for discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a residence.

I feel the same way about my pets. I do not have children, and my pets are the closest I will probably ever get.
Those people should be required to fence their yard in to keep their dogs from harming other animals and perhaps even people since they did not and will not take the time to train their dogs. My husky chased by chickens and ducks when he was little, and it was alot of work but I finally got him to stop hunting them. So many people do not put any time into training their dog, and it sometimes ends with a dangerous dog. It is a terrible situation......I feel for you so much, because you have someone's pet coming in and killing your babies. Then to top it off the owners take no responsibility for their own mess, those dogs probably do not get any love from their owners, and they sound like they just run wild.

He should have claimed self defense against the bear. My brother was attacked by a neighbor dog (uneventful but scary) and the neighbor called the police on HIM and said he had a gun pointed at her dog. Cops came... long story short, he did not have a gun, she lied (he had a stick) BUT... he told the cops that if he ever did have a gun and the dog attacked again, he would shoot it. The cops told him he'd be well within his rights to protect himself against the dog that way.

These poor old dogs sit out in their fenced yard day in and day out, no love at all. They get bored and escape the fence and wander the neighborhood looking for action. Unfortunately, it's killing action. Mine are not the first pets they've killed. Someone will kill the dogs eventually and that's sad too. All it would take is a little attention and love from the owners to keep them happy.

NY state is screwed up. I live about half an hour from West Point and a few years ago the state filed charges against one of the cadets. The cadet was out in the woods and he killed a rattlesnake. Turned out the rattlesnake was an Eastern Timber, which is a protected species. He was charged with killing a protected animal.

I know what you guys mean, a few years ago some dogs got loose, came in our yard and mauled my mum's cat [all I could do was sit in the dark and listen to the whole thing], I called the cops and they basically told me sucks to be you. Second time I had to bury a cat with in a couple years, my mum was so heartbroken. I was just .......

Hey, I'm not saying it's the right thing to do, and I'm not saying it's what I would do, but I know somebody whose neighbor's dogs keep digging under his fence and entering into his yard and scaring his kids. He started tagging the dogs with his paintball gun. The dogs learned quick.

Oh I'm sure it put a hurt on the rottweilers
I've tried vinegar, citronella, bleach in a squirt gun...I've tried coffee grounds and citrus peels....nothing keeps the cats out. Seriously considering wrapping top of fence with barbed wire.

I had a terrible problem with cats using my front yard as a litter box (I mean bad, all you could smell was urine and feces as you walked up to my front door). I read that cats do not like to walk on chicken wire, and although it is not the most attractive, I laid chicken wire all over the flower beds. Believe it or not, it worked.

Have the same problem here...and spin art from the lawn mower....lmaoooo....if I find it in the back yard (cause its easy to tell what's from my 75 and 100 pound dogs), i toss it back over the fence. I'll be digging up all the bulbs out of my front flower bed and moving them to the back. The cats eat my glads as soon as they sprout.

That is just terrible. Owners like that are why certain dog breeds get such a bad reputation. It judt sucks that you and others have to suffer.

I'm so glad my annoying neighbors across the street moved. They had a big black lab that they left outside all the time in their front yard that was not contained in their yard at all. I could barely take my dogs outside because their dog would always run across the street barking and trying to start stuff with my dogs. Chance (the neighbor's lab) seemed like a sweet dog, but he just didn't like other dogs and would constantly run around trying to mess with any other dogs around. I never wanted to yell at him or call AC because it wasn't his fault the people didn't seem to care about him, but it was certainly annoying to protect my dogs or watch for them to actually take him inside every now and then so I could take mine out. They would even leave him outside when they weren't home and he was free to wander off.

My next door neighbors on the other hand are great people. They have a small dog that is also aggressive towards my dogs and will run them into the house barking. He would actually stay outside and watch his dog whenever he took him out, though, so if anything happened, he would come and help stop it. We worked out schedules with our dogs so we didn't have to deal with the stress, though.

I just don't see how people can let their dogs roam the street and not care to watch them at all. Especially like my previous neighbors who would leave the house for hours and leave their dog out running free. They are living things that you are responsible for. :( I never take my eyes off my dogs when they are outside, and I even take one out on a leash if there are other people outside to avoid any trouble.

Same here...mine aren't even outside unless I'm watching them.
