so if you only gave EVERYONE 1 million.....that is just barely over 300 million...........the pot is 1.3 BILLION....13 thousand millions

If you give all 300 million people $1 each, that comes to $300 million dollars you give out. If you give 300 million people $10 each, 300 million times 10 equals $3 billion dollars.

Double check your numbers. You said there are 300 million people, and the jackpot is 13 thousand millions. Actually, 1.3 billion is 1,300 million. So 1.3 thousand divided by 300 is what? $4.33 each. Your calculation is off by one decimal point and you forgot the 6 zeroes after the population.

It's still a ton of money for us "little" people. Although to put it into perspective, it is about 1/3 of what Disney paid George Lucas for Lucasfilms. And it is 1/6th what New York City has to set aside in it's annual budget to cover the cost of pension payments to retired city employees.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Hubby actually got a day off so we spent yesterday goofing off and spending much needed time together...and making bets with the roommates...if we win the bet I get a new tank hehehe....like I needed a reason to watch tonights bama game...

Just to update everybody. The contest has not ended. Arey has been swamped as his temporary assignment to managing the shipping department has (for the time) become permanent. After two shoulder surgeries I am so far behind I barely have time to read all the posts here. He is most likely going to hand off to someone else. Please stick around. we'll make sure it's worth it.

I couldn't even imagine what I would do with the powerball jackpot...i sure would share with our families and then we would all go on one heck of a vacation to A far away island like Margaritaville !!!

He is definitely in my prayers. I was petrified when my hubby got one but all went well!!! You can see his from the outside and when we used to go swimming with the grandkids _ they couldn't stop asking questions about what was under his skin. He finally told them it was a direct line to Santa....lol....they would talk to the bulge like a microphone...so cute!!
