I liked yesterday morning! It was sunny and pretty out. Until it wasn't.I like these 50 degree days......with just enough rain......

Yeah, this year we're not claiming my daughter as a dependent even though we still could. She made way too much money and it would hurt her more than it would benefit us. And I had to adjust my withholding for 2016 so they will take out an extra $1,500 a month in fed and state taxes so I don't get slammed with another big tax bill next year. It's that damn alternative minimum tax. If it wasn't for that, I would pretty much break even. Right now without considering my deductions the calculation says I owe about $20k.
Me too - short months zip right by and then I can't wait for spring. March always seems like the longest month of the year altho I can't believe That Xmas was just a little over a month ago ... This Jan is way too long too.
Oh the horror!!! I was surprised we survived my husband working in the oil field and me with a good union job without ever having to pay, but because we both still had those jobs at the beginning of last year it makes it look like we were a lot better off than we actually were, plus losing both Shaun (due to him aging out, lol) and Kennedie (who is now back with her mommy. We could still claim her, too, but like you I want to make sure my daughter gets the benefit) things might not be too hot for us. If we can keep from going under with last year's taxes we might have a fighting chance at a pretty good year as long as I can get work in the spring when school's done (or before. I'm good with before.
). I am itching to get going on taxes. The suspense is killing me!!

Hubby will start bugging me to get them done...we just got our last statement so it's time!! I have everything together and with free internet filing it sure goes a lot faster than it used to!! I worked for the IRS doing taxes until a few years ago when they started closing all the centers because everyone was filing online. I was really sad because it was a fun job. We used to get a 5 min break every hour to smoke or whatever so our eyes and minds wouldn't get over-taxed!!
The sad part is there are a ton of people who use it as a forced "savings account". They deliberately overwithhold, and then splurge when they get their refund.
