Clearly you all need to get out to some local bbq competitions. Some of the food out there will change your world. (Even some of the vendors do awesome work, but the best is if the event does a people's choice or lets teams give out free samples..)

Not sure how far any of them are from you, but KCBS is the sanctioning body we compete under (blind box, etc) and they list quite a few for AZ.
