Ha! If you had ever had any of my pulled pork, you would at the United website right now making reservations and then show up at my door with an Apollo Superior :D
I love pulled pork more than any other food on God's GREEN EARTH!!!!
Whats your recipe Dan?
We normally smoke it all day but only if the weather is nice,which means we only get pulled pork once a year.

Clearly you all need to get out to some local bbq competitions. :) Some of the food out there will change your world. (Even some of the vendors do awesome work, but the best is if the event does a people's choice or lets teams give out free samples..)

I used to smoke the pork also, but had some slow-cooker pulled pork at a competition (see post above) that changed everything. We had one of the original crock pots in storage for years, started experimenting, and yum!!!!!

My recipe? Really? :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Yep. And we open every year with the 2nd largest KCBS comp in the world. We've been debating hitting the Safeway Nat'l Capital BBQ Battle but it is significantly more expensive than most comps and overlaps our yearly pool/bbq Beginning of Summer party. The other very-local event (15 mins) is in Annapolis, and overlaps the Kentucky Derby. (You'd think they would have thought of that, with Preakness right up the road..)

We're also planning to go back to Swinetastic in Frederick - 70 teams last year - plus 3 or 4 more to be named later. We could easily hit KCBS-certified comps every weekend for the whole season without driving more than 90 mins, but that many events gets really expensive really fast..

(ETA: Our driving limit is 90 minutes normal driving, 120 mins with a trailer, whichever hits first..)
