and i'm really, really picky about apple pie (the food) too... apples are a big deal where i grew up, and now that i've moved back we have acres of orchards all around us. apple pie, apple butter, apple cider, apple cider jelly... *drool*

The Apple Pie sounds interesting. I may give it a try after I finish the 5oz of Carmel Apple that I just finished mixing. 'Course it's gonna take me a while to burn up a full 5oz.

Sweet apples im afraid. I prefer a little tartness as well. I think a slight tartness brings out the flavor in apples better.
