I ordered some Applewood a few months ago and I remember it being one of my favorites. Tasted like a fresh leaf tobacco with a light taste of real store bought apples.
Now I got some Applewood again and let it steep for over a week and it tastes nothing like it did before.. The first time I didn't even let it steep.
Was something changed in the recipe or is this flavor a tough one to get tasting the same with each batch?
Now I don't even really like it.. taste like a totally different brand even  Dated 10-19-11

I think it's variations in our senses as much as anything else. My first experience with Malty Toffee was memorable. Later purchases didn't seem as great as my first taste of MT. Applewood has always been a great vape, although it doesn't hit me like my first experience with it.

That, and our changing palette of taste and smell, affect our overall experience. Dripping is the best way to appreciate Don's juices. Don once revealed that he uses the 306 dripper attys. I think that using the same hardware as the guy who develops the flavors is a good way to experience the same vape he does.

I'm on my third bottle of Applewood and haven't noticed any flavor change. Can you guys tells me what a 306 atomizer is? Will it fit on a 510 connection? Assuming not since it has different number? This might be a real dumb question.

Let me rephrase it. What does a 306 atomizer do that a regular 510 type cant?

You didn't describe how it tasted now. When it happened to me some months ago, it was like he forgot the "smoke." It was like vaping an apple :) Your description of the original is spot on for me btw. For me I just figured it was a mistake - he forgot something in the mix. If the current stuff for you is like mine (all apple, no smoke) maybe his process for this one leads to the occasional mistake? I fixed mine by adding a bunch of Virginia and a little bacco.

im fairly new to BWB and applewood and honey flue cured were two of my favs, one thing i noticed is when i 1st got applewood it tasted more like apples not much tobacco, i tried some of the other samples i got and the applewood steeped about 2 weeks, tried it again and it seemed the tobacco flavor had come out of hiding, that was my experience, i liked it either way and just ordered a bottle to put in one of my bottom feeders, i have a RSM dedicated to honey flue cured and my Hog will be dedicated to applewood, my darwin will be for dripping various other ones at home, Cola, malty, ejoker... ive ALMOSt converted to strictly BWB lol not quite but they are definatly my primary vendor for juice now!

Just filled up a new dual coil carto after 3 weeks of steeping. taste the same.. I taste no tobacco flavor in it at all.. and the apple taste like when you take a bite out of a bruised apple.. has a bruised apple medicine flavor.. my taste buds have not changed this much as they have not changed with anything else I eat or taste.. something is not right with the bottle I got.. this use to be my favorite..

Simplejack-

I've been vaping Applewood now for about 10 months, I haven't noticed a change in the flavor at all. But Applewood does not have a strong controlling flavor like many juices, and in my experiences the atty/carto and wattage your using can affect the flavor of it a lot. I've probably used apple wood in 10 different styles of carto's and atties and the taste can vary from one to another. This is the biggest reason I don't use DC's. For me a DC wrecks the flavor of Applewood. I get the best flavor from a 306LR or a Ikenvape fusion 801 carto (boges are pretty good as well).

Taste is all subjective however, just sharing my experiences. And one trick I've found with Applewood. Over time the apple flavor seems to drop off some, and what I've found that works for me is Steeping it in the fridge for about 3 weeks before I vape it. And i keep it in the fridge after that. I don't do that with any other juice I have, but for me It really brings out the Apple and Tobacco together nicely :). This has been my daily vape for about 10 months, and honestly if it does ever change I"ll probably quit vaping all together lol.

For sure this is true with me. I've been vaping for almost 8 months and my taste buds are still changing. I have several juices I like, but they don't hold the same appeal for me as they used to. Hence........I vape only my few favorites.

And alot of flavor switching to keep the palette from losing taste of flavors. The same thing all the time and the senses dull big time. Think of a air freshner, you walk in and smell it but after being in there not so much, but walk outside and then back in after a few and see the difference. Taste buds also work the same way...
