APV questions - Quality and what MOD now?

So, I started vaping because my company has a No Tobacco benefit, and they don't classify e-cigs as tobacco.

I made the (apparently often) rookie mistake of starting with Blu. It helped and I can't be too mad, but it was definitely not what I truly wanted.

When I moved up, I got the MVP. Great mod for the most part, but again, making mistakes and not reading enough, I tightened my tanks down too much and now the connector is loose and the top nor bottom come off enough for me to get in there and repair it.

So, I am looking at a new mod. I wish I had Provari money, but I don't. So, I have been cruising the selection at fasttech.com (I bought the MVP from there and had no issues. Are there any other good discount sites out there?) and then checking for reviews and known issues.

The Vamo (I would be looking at the V5) keeps coming up as a good entry level, but I also seel a lot of issues with the 510 threading reported.

The SmokTech S.I.D. is also another I see listed for entry level.

The last 2 are a bit of a step up in the SVD (full kit, not express) and the VTR (I like to keep mine in my pocket and like the idea of a "protected" tank).

So to sum it up, I guess i would love your feedback from personal experience. If you had it all to do over, what would you go for? Where would you buy it from?

Thanks!

I also have the MVP and I have not had any problems with it. I wanted to get the new VTR but I was urged not to because I was told (by several different employees of several different vape shops) not to because the MVP is still superior to it. The battery is not as big as the MVP. I just really like the way it looks and I also like the 'protected tank' like you said. Who knows- I may order one just to see for myself. I also like the vamo but several of my friends with vamos like my MVP better. I thought that the vamo was an upgrade from the MVP? Anyway- I am pretty happy with my MVP and I use it as my main PV. If you do want to replace your MVP they have them at 101vape right now for $39. I think that is a pretty darn good price! (I was lucky enough to win mine from Mt Baker) But if you want something different just go for it. It is such a personal thing. What works awesome for one person may just not be a good fit for you. Just jump in and try something that you are interested in!!
Good Luck!!!!

I have the Vamo V2 and SVD. The Vamo is compact in 18350 mode. I use a 510 to 510 sealed shorty adaptor to minimize use of the vamo threading, so that is not a problem. The button configuration and menu on the Vamo is super simple to use. The SVD is telescoping and a good bit heavier. The upside is a menu locking feature to prevent unintended changes to settings. If you do not mind the "flat" form factor, I have been hearing good comments about the MVP V2.0. If you want something similar in price that you can customize the appearance, there is the KSD K-max. Made by the same company that produced the vamo. I did a review here - http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...views/475391-quick-review-ksd-kmax-vv-vw.html
The bottom line is they have minor variations in appearance and features but pretty much give the same vape experience. This is due to the electronic function of the 33hz chipset in most VV/ VW devices. Nothing wrong with that for me. The other avenues are more expensive i.e. provari / reo or have a learning curve i.e. mech mods /rba.

I have the VamoV2 and MVP2 but use them as spares/backups since I use mech mods full time. I still carry the Vamo for ohm reading and battery checks for the mech but have gone "thru" the 510 issue that still gives me some problems. I don't know if the new versions are better.

The MVPv2 has been a solid performer but it stays at home.

You can always go with a kicked mechanical to start and go "unkicked" down the road to try lower ohms (after learning about batteries/ohms law and safety issues).

Good luck.

I did my research here at ECF before I ever tried an e-cig. As a result my first e-cig was a eGo-sized Smoktech E-Power 14650 tube mod. I quit smoking with it and used it for a year. These are still available in the classic version with 510 connector and removeable eGo cone or the new version with 510/eGo connection. You can use tanks on them and you can buy this E-Power new for under $20. Mine still works great.

Then I upgraded to another tube mod. You can get a Sigelei Zmax from many vendors from under $50 to $75 depending on equipment and warranty. A great choice if Provari performance on a budget appeals to you. Here is a huge thread on this very popular mod. Here is my Sigelei after using it every day, all day long for over six months.

Vamos are popular but it seems a number need to be replaced after 6ish months.
I got 2 zmaxs (there is a reasonable explaination on that. Lol) as my first upgrade and they were working great for the last few months but i splashed out on a provari last week ;)
I saw a youtube guy compare svd against provari and he liked provari better but gave it to svd on cost.

I paid around 70 for telescoping zmax kit with batteries and charger and abt 30 on mini version from coop here.
If i hadnt bought provari i was considering mpv.

Not sure if that is helpful, just weighing in.

Well if you are looking for something that you can transport easily in your pocket, then the MVP V2 seems like a no brainer ... The Vamo and SVD are must too heavy for pockets IMO. I would reserve those choices for at home use.

As far as work use, an Ego Twist (maybe 650mah), and the new Aspire ET-S glassomizer might be a good set up for you to carry during work. In fact I recommend the Aspire ET-S for anyone looking for a solid performing tank, that will not leak, performs well, and also transports well for work use ... Not to mention it is a very attractive piece.

Thanks for all the feedback! I guess I'll have to bump up my post count so I can get verified for the Co-Op / Classifieds.

Work is actually really cool about the e-cigs, almost the whole office has converted as they have been approved for indoors use.

I have an eVod as a backup that is my savior for now, with a mini protank and a mini protank II, so I am set in the small department for now.

I would likely need a tank case if I wanted to pocket the MVP2 so as not to bend/damage that connector. In fact I think I've pretty much sworn off that method of transport due to potential damage...

I agree with everything Amberina has said here.... I would just purchase another MVP at the prices they are going for on 101vapes now.... You just can't beat that value.

Hmm. Had the svd. Didn't like it. The threads were completely horrible. Squeezed and scratched and eww it was like nails on a chalkboard. Plus once put a tank on if you don't tighten it down really well it tends to rock back and forth like the threads are spaced too far apart almost. Does that make sense? Of course all of this is from my own experiences so ymmv. I had the mvp and got the same problem as you with the loose battery piano it going down too far. You can just put like a sharp knife or something down into the 510 connection and get it in between the pin and the metal on the side and kind of pry it up just a little bit. It always worked for me. You'd be surprised it doesn't need to come up much more and you may not even be able to tell it moved until you screw on your atomizer. I haven't used a vamo but hear about issues with those as well. Oh and also I had two svds and they both kept acting up as in sometimes they wouldn't fire when you pushed the button and they would also randomly turn off when you push the button to fire it. It's a problem I've read much about on the Internet so I'm certain I wasn't an exception. But again YMMV. OK I'm just gonna cut to the chase. I have one device that I use religiously now. I have another one in mind for a backup and to just mess around with too. I am currently using a nemesis mechanical mod. This thing is absolutely gorgeous and is built like a tank. Threads are buttery smooth. It's completely adjustable. You can adjust both the bottom and top battery pins. So that means you can basically use any tank that exists. Because you can move that little pin that connects to the atomizer up and down. It has adjustable airflow, comes with several tubes so you can use any battery in between an 18350-18650 and all that fall in between those two. You can lock the button so it doesn't fire. It comes with a tube to put a kick in. It's amazing. And I'm gonna be getting a provari for when I feel like messing around with a vv device. But IMHO nothing hits better than a mechanical with the right atomizer. Sorry I wasn't much help for your price range. Like I said I would skip the svd. Sorry for you svd lovers. Maybe like others have said maybe just try out another mvp or fix the one you have? I think you get what you pay for though.
