Are pods ideal for me?

I have stage 1 COPD and currently vape 6mg in my Pharaoh mini RTA. I tried the Ares RTA and vaped 12mg and hated it, switched to the Wasp Nano RDTA and found it too harsh on my lungs. So now I'm back to my Pharaoh. I'm constantly clearing my throat and coughing. I'm at a loss. I want to continue vaping. Could a pod system be easier on my lungs? I'm roughly going through 6-8 tanks a day. But I've vaped 4 tanks a day in the past and still had the throat and lung agitation. Should I just give up vaping altogether and go on nicotine gum? I'd really prefer to keep vaping.

There is no need to inhale, I normally don't, nicotine (from vaping) is absorbed in the by the mucus membranes not in the lungs. Check out our library lots of good information on how to vape, nicotine and a lot of other great info.

as stated above, you don't have to inhale into the lungs, simply hold the vapor in your mouth then exhale....
I have asthma and at first wasn't able to hardly do lung hits at all...then I was doing MTL (mouth to lung), now I can do some DL (Direct to Lung) before coughing...

another thing is what is the pg/vg ratio of your juice? High pg tends to give more of a throat hit and also some have allergic reactions, too high of a pg will irritate me, I stay around 80% vg or higher

another thing is what watts are you vaping at?
if I go above 30w again I will start having coughing fits, hot vapes for some reason seems to irritate my lungs

what ohms are you vaping at?

airflow can also have some effect....try playing with the airflow either closing it off more or opening it up more until you find something that works better

pods might work, but keep in mind most pods are made for MTL vaping so the airflow will be restricted and they aren't adjustable watts so you can't fine tune to your needs

Yeah, what others have said above ^^^ Also the nasal passages are often not talked about much … You can simply put vapor into your mouth without inhaling it but instead of blowing it out of your mouth you can expel it through your nose. It will provide a good nasal hit provided that your PG level is adjusted correctly. All oral and nasal mucus membranes will absorb the nicotine..... If you elect to inhale into the lungs then use a juice with a lower PG level.

I've not used one, but many of the pods use Nic Salts, which has a higher nic concentration than Nic Base but is chemically altered to be smoother on the inhale. There are several topic discussions about Nic Salts here on the forum.

If you do decide to switch to a pod system, I'd suggest getting one which allows you to add your own choice of e-liquid.

I'm constantly clearing my throat and coughing.
Might look into purchasing an inexpensive RDA and build for 5.5 to 6.5 watt build (The Snapdragon RDA works for me at 32ga KA1;4-5 turns;.110 ID,Single coil). Fill the well with VG only, no nic, then vape. If you start having to clear your throat or cough, I suggest you consider non vape alternatives.
If no problems, then you can experiment by introducing:
by strength and type of nic/
    PG tolerance
    Heat/coil/temperature wishes
    Types of E liquid

Pods might be worth a try. But it sounds like you'd definitely benefit from reducing the volume somehow, especially with COPD. It's a big jump from DTL at your volume to a pod, so you might try to occasionally use a loose mtl attie first, to ease the transition. We're all different, but I smoked 45 years, and only go thru about 2- 2.5ml day MTL, 14 nic, all VG.

You don't say whether you're using the 2ml or 5ml setup on the Pharoa, but even the 2 ml at your rate would be 12-16ml/day, which seems like an awful lot to me, even for healthy lungs. I know that when I approach 3 ml/day, I clear my throat and cough significantly more. That's just a lot of volume for your lungs to have to work to clear out.
