Are single coil tanks out of style?

I currently use either a CE3 or 2.0 ohm cartomizer with my twist and want to try out a tankomizer. My thought was that I would just get a single coil tank since my normal cartos are single coil and work just fine. I would think that the benefit of the dual coil would be for more vapor and throat hit, but does it also drain the battery faster? Shopping around, it seems like most companies aren't even offering the smoketech single coils systems anymore. Thoughts?

My lesson came from provape when I bought my provari. Dual coils are fine if u have a mod that can push enough juice for 2 coils. If not then stick with single coil for the best performance. I haven't had any trouble getting single coil ones. Provape, smoktek, copper creek just to name a few.

I'd been using Smoktech dual coils in all my carto tanks mainly because that's what they came supplied with. They were fine, I guess, but often I'd get burnt taste that would never go away and I'd have to change out the carto before I felt I should need to.

Then I read some posts here that dual coils tend to drain the batteries of 3.7v mods faster, and without actually benefiting the vaping experience to warrant that loss. I also read the controversial theory that to effectively take advantage of both dual coils, you needed at least 4.5v of power. Since I wasn't entirely happy with the dual coils, I decided to give some single coil cartos a try.

I'm glad I did. I have definitely noticed a moderate increase in battery life in my 14500 and 18650 batteries. Probably more vapor, same flavor, and after more than 2 weeks use in several tanks, no burnt taste.

As it has been mentioned- ya gotta have the amps to get the best performance from DCTs and, yes- they do drain your battery quicker. I have a variable voltage tube and run either a Vivi Nova 2.5 tank with the 2.4 ohm coil head at 5.2 volts or a single coil tank (2.5 ohm at 4.7 to 5.4 volts depending on the juice). Either way I get tons of hit and thick vapor. Vapor Phoenix has the single coil 3.5ml tanks for 6 bucks a pop. Just an FYI though- you have to dry burn them a couple times to get rid of the lube taste- usually 3 or 4 shorts burns and they are good to go.

I guess I made the correct choice with this issue when ordering extra cartos and atomizers. I just placed an order for more cartos last night, and I was going to get the more common LR dual coil models, but then I found the Smoketech single coil cartos and ordered 3 of them along with a bridgeless 510 atomizer for dripping the new flavors I'll be getting.

But last week when making my 1st ever e-cig orders for kits, I did order a 6ml tank for my new Torpedo VV, with 6 extra dual coil replacement cartos/atomizers for the tank, but I dont remember seeing single coil ones for this tank for sale where I bought them anyway.... There were triple coil cartos there too..

:facepalm::laugh:

This reminds me of razors. Do I really need 6 blades in the same razor to cut my beard?

Lol! I was talking about that few weeks ago about how razors are getting crazy with how many blades there are. But I had to use a single bladed razor when I was on vacation last week and realized it took _forever_ to shave compared to my triple blade razor.
