I'm trying to talk myself out of the Nickel plated because of my hand moisture and tarnishing. My grand never leaves my hand so I think it would get tarnished pretty quickly, I'd be polishing daily.
Hello Alice I only did the one run of the mini and a hand full of grands. Why I stopped was I lost 60 doors out of 100 mods to light scratches.I had to polish every mod before they were anodized.I agree the finish was amazing but not worth it for me .Doors are the hardest parts as far as finish goes I lose lots of them to scratches every run
Thanks Rob. Past couple of weeks I have been using the very shiny purple/purple Mini that DH carried for months, before I got him the black. I noticed a few little dings in it, that weren't there before he carried it. When I inspect his black, when I can get it out of his hands, which for over a month now, is only to put a new bottle of juice in) I cannot find any dings. I'm thinking the less shiny finish may be tougher than the really shiny one and certainly doesn't show fingerprints like the really shiny one does.
BTW.... he won't even let me clean it. It's been about six weeks now, since I last cleaned it, with only one atty change out. He only vapes about 1ml a day so that may be one reason it doesn't "want" a clean-out.
Liking shiny things, I contemplated the nickel plated, but.....I am really acidic. I can strip costume jewelry in record time. Considering the reos barely leave my hand, I think my body chemistry would etch it. I could polish a tumbled ;-)
Same here. I have to keep my spa and pool at no higher than 7.2 pH. There are some metal polishes that leave a fine film that keeps metals from tarnishing.
From Wikipedia: The acid mantle is a very fine, slightly acidic film on the surface of the skin acting as a barrier to bacteria, viruses and other potential contaminants that might penetrate the skin.[1] The pH of the skin is between 4.5 and 6.2, so it is acidic.[2] These contaminants and other chemicals are primarily alkaline in nature and the skin's moderate acidity helps to neutralize their chemical effects.
My very acidic skin may be the reason I, and others with intact skin mantle, have pretty high resistance to bacterial infections (in addition to good acquired immunity to bacteria.) But it can play h*ll on metals.
