Are there shorting issues with the Vivi Nova tanks?

New vaper here... slowly ramping up my gear and the local shop had a good price on a Vivi Nova tank (V1, 3.5ml, 2.4 ohms with two spare coils). Anyhow.. I get this home, fill it up start vaping. Sweet! Vapes nice. So I look online and I find a little chatter about how the Vivi Nova is frying batteries. Mods, plain jane egos...

Is this something I should worry about? Some tips to avoid problems?

Last thing I want to have this thing do is go all Chernobyl on my little trusty eGo... that would suck.

Been using a Vision viva nova for about a year. Most of that time on an ego twist and a vision spinner. Not a problem here but coil heads can be crappy. It's usually in batches, had some heads last literally for months with regular cleaning. Had a 5 pack with two that lasted a week. All I can say is don't try and modify the tank and make sure you keep the connections clean and use the correct charger.

Np here using 4 of them for last 2 months, I just clean with warm water let dry over night weekly.

I managed to fry exactly one battery with a vision vivi nova, but it was my impatient fault for rebuilding one and slapping it in there without checking for shorts.

Lesson learned.

Is it just a visual check, or do you need a tester for that?

well its visual and you also need an ohm meter to make sure there are no shorts. thats just for rebuilding.
if you are using a protected battery, it just wont fire. most egos are protected these days. most VV mods are.

where did you hear vivis do this? was it a youtube video? Ive been using them for sooo long with no problems.
I short things out all the time without melting my batteries or my hotsprings. (it happens sometimes)
I try my best to avoid it though. But I feel very secure using my vivi novas. They shouldn't be a problem out the box.

I was using a cheap knockoff ego-style.

I use one of these since i don't feel like fiddling with the multimeter all the time.

Everything has shorting issues. Just degrees of likelihood. Pretty much any coil can short itself it it breaks (I guess there are exceptions...but a leg can often break and touch the other leg).

That's why you use safe batteries, safe mods, common sense, etc. And why ECF has safety info.

That said...the thing with the VN is that it comes with a little round "ground protector" on the inside of the coil holder. Most people that re-wick them skip using it. That can lead to the positive side of the coil touching the "holder" (which is ground) and is a short.

Since I check it well 1st with a DMM, and have at least 2 electronic protection layers, and a mod that won't build up pressure, I don't sweat it.
