From what I understand IMR are the only recommended batteries. I don't believe trustfire makes an imr battery. You want to use IMR batts because they are able to put out more amperage then regular lithium batts.

Since the LT is a boosting mod, you want IMR batteries. You can get away with some high quality 18650 non-IMR's, but these are half the size so they will struggle. I've used the AW IMR 18350's and they are quality cells: AW IMR 18350 700mAh LiMN Rechargeable Lithium Battery

yea....especially with the negative press lately about PV battery failures, I would stick with proper batteries in all mods. AW IMR batteries or Nhaler has some unbranded 18350s for 7.00 each. Better safe than sorry

What Meatsneakers said...it's a booster cct, I don't think it's particularly dangerous using a protected batt but you'll always be up against the protection cct over amp cut-out on anything over about 4v...a buddy used his Lava for a couple days on a TF he had while waiting for his IMR's to come in the mail...it just drove him crazy is all.

I've tried using the protected Ultrafire 18650s in my LavaTube. It's a total pain in ..... The protection circuit seems to be kicking in right around 1C.
The higher mah makes them attractive but you'll never get the benefit of it in a boost mod like the LavaTube. They simply can't handle the discharge rate that's required.

So... To repeat what everyone else has already said... Stick with IMR batteries.
