I'm looking for some 14500 PROTECTED batteries for my NicoStick mod (and any other possible uses in the future). I've kinda hit a wall and would like some info/confirmations. I've read that a battery can still be protected but only at a certain voltage (min and max). First link (Right?)

DealExtreme: $5.64 TrustFire Protected 3.7V 900mAh 14500 Lithium Battery (2-Pack)

Then I see that this one says protected. Second link. This one doesn't offer the same specs but does say that it has PCB on the battery.

DealExtreme: $4.75 TrustFire Protected 14500 3.7V 900mAh Lithium Batteries (2-Pack Blue)

And finally the battery that most recommend (the grey one). Third link. It doesn't have protected in the title like the others and no specs either but this one also says it has a PCB in it.

DealExtreme: $3.99 TrustFire 14500 3.7V 900mAh Rechargeable Lithium Batteries (2-Pack)

My confusion: They all say 14500, protected (somewhere), 3.7v, and 900mAh but why is the best the cheapest and the worst the most expensive with more reviews and most likely more buyers.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!! (Can you tell how overly analytical I am? lol)

(Edit): Now I see people not liking DX cuz of shipping times and quality control issues so I've seen these being used. Fourth link. These are the same batteries as the first link

TrustFire Protected 3.7V 900mAh 14500 Lithium Battery (2-Pack)

What's going on here?

I recently got the ones in the last link you put up, from The custom saber shop. They work great and seem to last forever in a nicostick. You can buy from custom saber shop with no worries, they have great service, fast shipping, and great prices. If you don't have a charger they sell this one, TrustFire All-in-One Charger which works great, and charges a bunch of different sizes, and it's only $10. I think my order was just under $28 for 4 protected 14500's with the charger, and that was after shipping. I had it in 3 days.
Very happy with it.

Thats cool they work! I've heard they should but those weren't recommended because they have a limit on the protection. God I'm confused.

Not sure what limits you're referring to, but there are definitely limits set waith any protected Li Ion battery. Limits to prevent over charging, and also to prevent over discharging. Are you are talking about some other limits?

I think this is what I saw:

- Low voltage cut off: 2.75V
- Over charge voltage cut off: 4.2V
- Maximum charge current: 1.5C
- Maximum discharge current: 1.5C

Maybe I'm confused but I could've sworn that Sun Vaporer was talking about this . . . . You out there Sun???

Those ratings are what I was referring to. Only the voltage cutoffs actually shut down the battery, not the current rating, if that's what you were worried about. The Maximum discharge current, in my understanding is basically so you don't use a battery that is completely out the ballpark as far as the current drain specs go. But since every stock e-cig pushes this rating to the limit, and then well past it, because of the tiny batteries they have to use, don't worry to much about it. Those specs are fine for what we need.

Don't see it mentioned anywhere, but from close to 100 bats ordered, all of them had capacities over 800mAh, while more then half reading 890mAh, so they are the best you can get from DX: DealExtreme: $5.49 TrustFire Protected 14500 3.7V 900mAh Rechargeable Lithium Batteries (2-Pack)

Actually these are the best Li-Ions you can get besides very expensive branded ones.

I agree. The UltraFires I have aren't near the quality of the TrustFires. If only the AW's would come down in price.
