Hi, I'm relatively new to vaping outside of ego setups and recently purchased a 5 volt box mod from Madvapes. I neglected in buying any batteries on the site as I figured I could find 14500 batteries at a battery store or something. I was considering buying these, but I wanted to make sure they were safe and wouldn't blow up in my hand.

As I'm not allowed to post links, the batteries are SAFT 3.6v AA Lithium Batteries. I'd really appreciate it if somebody could get back to me relatively quickly, or point me towards a thread where my answer could be found. Thanks.

Those are non rechargeable to begin with (I Think) go to any vape shop or store and they all recommend AW, Efest, also Panasonic and Samsung. The important thing is that they can handle high drain rates for example a specific model of the Panasonic can handle 30Amps of power which is a LOT. You can get Efest 14500 from Amazon and probably your local vape store

I wouldn't suggest using those SAFT batteries in any mod. Go back to the site you bought your mod, amazon, any vape site really and spend the money on a decent charger and a couple batteries. eFest AWs aren't that expensive and are trustworthy, avoid anything with the word "fire" in it as far as batteries go.

I'm not sure if the link will post properly. If it doesn't, search for member ID Baditude and read his blogs on batteries and safety. There is a wealth of knowledge there. I still refer to his blogs for a quick refresher. After that, do your own research on batteries and educate yourself. If you aren't sure or are hesitant to use a certain battery DONT USE IT. Do more research, know what you are using.

I hope this helps you get started. Welcome to the forum. :)

Do not use those batteries!!

Those are non-rechargeable batteries, not the type we use in mods. These are the type of batteries which blew a guy's jaw off when they exploded in his homemade mod.

Batteries for mods are not the place to try to save money. Buy some red AW 14500 IMR batteries from RTD Vapor and know that you've got the best available. These will be rechargeable, safe-chemistry, and high-drain.

Man I'm so glad you all jumped on here and made it known that these are not the right batteries for vaping. I seen this thread when it was first posted and it took some time before a response was given. I Don't know much about batteries enough to have said anything. I just know enough that it's gotta be right or somebody gonna be hurt. Hope the OP gets back to this thread before doing something dangerous.

Lighthound is a good site to get authentic (there are counterfeits out there) AW IMR batteries....

I'm not sure I even trust the efest batteries after seeing pictures from a vaper who had a battery incident with one of the supposed 35A purple jacketed ones...

**hcigar is actually one known site that sells counterfeit AWs by the way...mentioning it because I know a lot of people are carrying their clones**
