Are "they" phasing out the KR808 threaded batteries/atomizers...

...or are these just simply entry level devices not meant for much universal use? I've stuck with 808 because that's where I started (encore kit I bought for $25 over a year ago just happened to be an 808) and I have a lot of little trial and error bits and pieces so I've just sort of stayed with it. Recently I got over having a device look like a cigarette and went for the iGo (cheaper than the eGo and basically the same except its an 808 thread instead of the 510) but I am having a tough time finding clearomizers for it other than where I bought it. I really dont want to have to buy the eGo since the iGo, while cheap, was still almost $50 for the kit. Long story short, am I just having bad luck finding online shops that sell the 808 threaded gear or are they really not popular after the transition from tobacco?

I don't think KR808 is necessarily being phased out, but the 510 connection is and probably will continue to be much more popular. KR808 was more popular than 510 several years ago and many of the vendors that used it then still do. It's just that the vast majority of new devices that are not cig-a-likes have gone with the 510.

I'm an 808 gal, and I buy a lot of stuff from Vapor 4 Life.

Great, I will look into them. I've only gone through myvaporstore.com, nhaler.com (where I bought my iGo), and viper-vape.com (who I've found to have the best juice so far). Obviously the perfect world would be a place where I can get hardware and juice from the same place with fast delivery but hey, I'm not seriously expecting perfection. Does anyone shop locally? We have had only one vape place open up here near Rochester, ny but they dont sell anything for the 808 thread. At least I can get juice in a pinch without having to spend $10 on blu or nJoy disposables.

btw, I'm really liking the Crystal Vision Clearomizers (N300 iGo Crystal Vision Cartomizers) and recently purchased the replaceable one so all I have to swap out is the wick. Very attractive idea. Not to be too "crunchy" hippie earth whatever but I do hate the waste from these. I didn't much like tossing my cigarette butts everywhere but at least it was sort-of biodegradable. I'm sure that as these grow there will be recycling or something.

I love KR808D-1. As far as I know KR808D-1 is going strong regardless of whether some web brand that stuck their own name on it is doing well. KR808D-1 threaded slim models are 3.6 or 3.7v (the unregulated 3.7v may be 4.2v briefly after charging) so they are the stronger popular-threading slim ecigs. And they are actually stronger for some reason than my 3.7v box mods.

I get my batteries at V4L.com (the shiny single-logo manuals - i.e their original model) and I get the rubbery-coated manuals at Bloog or SmokelessImage. I only use manuals. I prefer Bloog's cartomizers but I used to use V4L's and have not tried Smokeless Image's. BTW V4L also has one or more fat battery models I believe are KR808D-1 threaded (Ask them). And either of the other 2 shops might also have big battery solutions. Those three are all mainly KR808D-1 threading shops.

What IS disappearing is LibertyFlights plans to stop carrying the Riva 901 which is the 3.7v fat battery I use with KR808D-1 cartos.

You're likely to end up in my situation -- getting vGo (808 ego size batteries, I think you said iGo and not sure that's what you meant) batteries to fit your v2 or other 808 cartos/clearos, but want to try the new stuff so get an adapter, eventually get a 510 and/or ego batt, and have an overload of adapters and gear. Wanna buy a pile of 808 stuff cheap? I'm needing to get out of limbo and simplify / concentrate on 510

Hi Jeffrey and welcome to the forum! As far as I know, 808's are still going strong and you can find plenty of vendors who carry them. A simple way to find 808 stuff is to do a search on a vendor's site for "808"; this will bring up whatever they carry. I know that V2, V4L, Smokeless Image are all 808 threaded. Many other vendors will carry some 808 items.

That being said, you may very well find yourself in the future contemplating "upgrading" to 510/eGo threading, since there's soooo much more available of that type. (But the 808's will always be good backups, no matter where you eventually move to.) Be warned, upgraditis hits most of us at some point!

Happy vaping! :vapor:

I used V4L (Vapor 4 Life) pretty much exclusively for 808 batteries for awhile (BTW, I had V2 batteries first and V4L's are much better in so many ways) but I got tired of having to charge constantly because each one (reg size) only lasted an hour or two since I'm a chain vaper :) and I haven't found anybody who sells a multi-batt charger that will do 5-6 at a time (V4L really should come up with one of these). Anyway, my next step (2 yrs ago) was to look for an 808 "fat batt" (Ego style) because I had 808 cartos everywhere & didn't want to waste them. I bought one (650 mah?) from CigEasy - an Elegant Easy (no longer available) and another (750 mah?) from LeCig - the PigCig. LeCig has a new version of the PigCig available (now in different colors) but I both emailed & called (left a VM msg) to ask a question and still, over a month later, never received a response.

So I went back to Nhaler, where I bought a bunch of different colored drip tips (to match my flavors in the cartos so I could easily tell which was which - I don't drip) because they have a LOT of 808 threaded stuff. I bought 2 iGo's (that's what they're called there - the 808 Ego Style), one "mini" (400 mah) and a 650 mah and a bunch of the iGo rebuildable Crystal Vision clearomizers. I absolutely LOVE them. The mini is just so darn cute (yes, I'm a little girly). I decided to bump it up and bought an iGo Revolver (EGO style 808 VV) a couple of weeks ago and must admit, this is my favorite of them all.

I've had no problems with the clearos. I bought several of them and dedicate each one to a specific flavor so I can just keep topping them off (no worries about cleaning to change flavor & haven't needed to clean any "gunk" yet even with one coffee juice that's so dark I can't even see through it).

V4L sells tanks and 808 fat batts now too, I just ended up preferring Nhaler (a bit more pricey but worth it for the quality, in my opinion).

I think 808's are still going strong and not necessarily just for newbies. Personally, I'm not interested in a mod or anything that looks weird or way too big in my opinion. They just aren't as common as the 510 Egos. Still, if you go to the right suppliers (V4L and Nhaler are the best IMHO), you'll find everything you need to stick with a modern 808 setup if that's what you like. I do, because I think the 808 has a more consistent & slightly higher voltage - at least in comparison with an Ego, but YMMV.

Smokeless Image and Halo both sell 808 and vGo (808 inner, eGo skirt) batts and cartos and clearos and such. You can get skinny batts, fat batts (up to 1100-1300mah), and VV batts at those sites, all 808 and/or vGo compatible. :)

I was just going to post about Smokeless Image and Halo too but you beat me to it. I also want to add that vendors such as nHaler and Smoktech also sell some 808 delivery devices like the ce4 and cartos, just have to be careful and read the descriptions. I started with SI, so I looked around a lot in the early days for other vendors with devices to fit my 808 batteries.

Nhaler's iGo's don't come with a skirt or cone but they say EGO cones fit & they sell those (both the EGO kits/batts and "replacement" cones, short and regular". The iGo's go up to 1200/1300 mah too, I just don't like them that big. The N300 Crystal Vision Clearomizers are the same diameter of the iGo, so you don't use a skirt or cone with them.

Both the PigCig and my old Elegant Easy had cones. The PigCig's was longer and the Easy's was shorter (which I liked). My problem is that I lost a lot of vaping stuff in a move, including the PigCig's charger, and the Easy's charger doesn't work on it, so that one's dead to me now. LOL. The Easy was a little odd because while it was 808 threaded and any 808 carto worked fine, there's something about it (maybe the short factor?) that makes the Crystal Vision clearomizers technically fit on the threads, but overhang the batt like a mushroom top. That's ok - it just died last week too (the button just flashes instead of staying on, even when charged), so I don't need to worry about it anymore :).

Nice that there are other reputable 808 suppliers too. Thanks!
