I've had two pair of aluminum Vamo's from fastech. First pair is V2 and I used them daily for 7-8 months. They still work. I decided to get backups and found the V5 in aluminum so got a pair of those. I use Vision Victory clearos and had to use an adapter with the V2. With the V5, the clearo fits inside the top ring. I have a V2 & V5 and have used everything from clearo's>ProTanks>Kayfuns>IGO-W and never had a problem. Have had the V2 almost 2 yrs & the V5 about 1 1/2 yrs,they still get used pretty regularly along w/ my DNA30,it's a decent first mod for the trip into vv/vw
My boyfriend's first real Vape was a stainless steel Vamo....he used it all day every day. Slept on it, dropped it. After about 16 mos of daily thrashing the threads finally went out. And he got another one. He has no desire for anything "better." Go figure.
My V6 has been reliable for the roughly 6 months I've had it. I did put a thread adapter on when I got it as "insurance." No problems, still working fine.

Get a stainless steel Vamo and a couple of 510 connectors since this is where most problems happen from screwing in and out with the brass 510 fitting. Screw a 510 connect in and leave it there. Other then that I've found my Vamo's to be like the energizer bunny there just keep going and going very reliable.
Stainless Vamo V5 still going strong after 5 months. Center pin a little sticky now though. 510 threads seem like they could be easily damaged if not careful. Used in both single 18650 and dual 18350 with no issues. Mostly powering a Magma @ 20W or Kanger Aerotank @ 10W.
There are versions of the vamo out now that will go to 40 watts,just for vamo and whatever version you're interested in.
Aluminum v5 still going strong almost a year. Gave it to my GF months ago as a true test as she is very careless with vape stuffs.
I just returned a couple V6s because the screw-in 510 tip threads were so loose they wouldn't stay where I set them. I'm glad to see they went back to the spring loaded tips of the V5 for the V7.
I've had the v7 about a month now, they're not spring-loaded 510s, its the same screw type as the V6. As it is, mine doesn't have very much adjustment room. Both of my KFLs have a gap no matter what.. Regardless, I love it so far but of course Innokin had to upgrade my beloved MVP right after I bought it so well see how long it lasts..
Still have an original V1 First run release in decent working order. Over 2 years old.

Do different manufacturers just make them however they want, without any standard configuration?
Varitube has the KSD V7 on sale right now, from what I read they are the most reliable.
And yes everyone throws together mods with the name Vamo, it's hard to keep track

KSD IS the only "real" Vamo. If its not made by KSD, who knows what it does. Anything beyond the V7 is a knock off, Kangside has not made a Vamo past v7. I got mine from Varitube on cyber Monday, the day he got em in a stock.. Only took 2 days to get from FL to CA too!!
I ended up getting a V7 for $32 in a one day flash sale from Varitube. Never owned one but for that price I figured I would give it a try.
My Vamo v2 would likely still work. Used it for a year until a tank connector snapped inside the connection and I can't get it out. If I ever get around to removing it I bet it would still be fine.
