Want to upgrade from a regular EGO 3.7 V battery. Thinking of a Vamo? Would value your opinion!

I would like to get something nicer than the regulated 3.7 V Ego im currently using.

Could you tell me if the Vamo V6, V7, V8 or V9 would be right for me. I've only tried the Original Kangor ProTank 1. Does it fit good on these Vamos? Also I want to get in to vaping Max VG or close to 100 percent VG juice, so Im thinking it would be better to have more power to heat up the thicker liquid. Would 20 watts be sufficient(the max of the V6) or should I just pay a little extra and go with the V9? (40 Watts)

Also could you tell me if the "Vamo like" mod is any good? http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/...-v8-styled-55w-vv-vw-variable-voltage-wattage

Cause this Pino one has the ability to sub-ohm... according to specs it will go down to 0.2 ohm

Thank you for the advice

Im not married to the protank I can change. I just dunno what else is out there... someone just gave me the protank 1 and all ive tried to this point. As far as a "proper rebuildable" is that a tank or coil? I dont know much about APVs or tank compatibility, sorry. The Pino just looked nice cause it could do sub ohm and I sort of like the E-Cigar look that the Vamo has.... looks more like an EGO battery... box kind is cool tho too...(seems more popular)

Hi Chris, Im in the same situation like you - upgrading from my ego batteries.
I just ordered an Eleaf iStick 20w & 30w & Lemo Drop since i have silently read & learn a lot from EFC here.
There are many good reviews on both of the item & the price is good for an authentic.

Initially, like you, I plan to get a vamo or any battery powered mod. But.. I find that there's a lot to learn before I can go that road (not to mention doing sub-ohming)
For example, what type of battery is safe (don't be surprised that not all 18650 batteries are suitable), the power output, type of charger, ohms law, etc etc.
I started vaping about 9 months ago using ego batt, CE5 clearos & mini protank 2.
I have learned to build my own coil as it is cheaper & I have lots of spare used kanger coil heads.
I usually build mine around 1.7 - 2 ohm using Blaxsol organic cotton wick.
They makes my juice taste better in my protank compared to stock coils.

Hope this helps :)

Certainly a lot to choose from. My attraction to the Vamos is mainly because they are pretty cheap compared to the ileafs and other box mods for the same or better power. Has anyone tried the Pino V8? Its styled after the Vamos but has sub ohm capability? Not sure what the lowest ohm you can use on the vamos(1 ohm maybe?) Not that I even know much at all about sub ohming but just to leave the door open for the future given this Pino says on the specs it goes down to 0.2. $30.94 PINO V8 Styled 55W VV/VW Variable Voltage / Wattage Mod - 3.0W-55W / 3.0-7.4V / 1*18650/18350 / stainless steel at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I must say for 30 bucks.... then 15-20 for batteries... charger cant be that expensive either... its a very cost effective setup that could be potentially as good as mods that cost twice as much.

First of all 40w on a protank isn't going to work. It will burn well before 40w.
Get a proper rebuildable if you want to run higher power.

Also I would look into a IPV or Sigelei mod with a yihi board. Best bang for your buck over all.

I'm encouraging you to listen to this advice ^^^ generally.

As a former Vamo owner, I'd advise you to avoid a Vamo--let alone a knock off of a Vamo.

If you want a proper 50w mod, the best device on the market is the sigelei 50w v2 and it can be had for around $70 if you shop around:

Sigelei 50W v2 Box Mod - Eciggity

The ipv mini v2 70w is also a good choice and can be had for around $60 (but the bottom battery cap is fragile hence the sigelei is the better choice if you drop your stuff):

Sigelei 50W v2 Box Mod - Eciggity

Lastly, if budget is a concern, you might want to consider the Sigelei mini 30w which can be found for $40:

Sigelei Mini 30W Box Mod - Eciggity

Basically the message is this, drop a little more cash into a durable device that performs over the long haul and you'll buy one device instead of 3 or 4. I've learned this lesson the hard way. The good news is that, today, $70 will deliver astonishing value that was unthinkable even a few months ago.

If you don't want to mess with replaceable batteries just yet I would look at something in the iTaste line. Quality, safety and durability are what Innokin focuses on a lot instead of the wattage race that other companies are worried about. You can find the new MVP 3 for as little as 55 shipped(and it's only 2cm taller than the iStick 50W the other dimensions are the same, people like to exaggerate how compact the iStick 50 is in comparison, plus the MVP is built better anyway). The 3.0 can operate all of the new sub ohm tanks with prebuilt coils and RBA builds down to .5 ohms, the battery life is insane as well. You can find an MVP 2 kit for as low as 30-35 and it comes with a clearo but is has much more limitations, and the 20W can be found in the same price range but it doesn't come with a clearo, both of which have good battery life. If you're looking for more of a ego shape APV, I probably wouldn't recommend the iTaste VV series, but that's just my personal tastes, I think they look funny lol.

Not too long ago I was in your shoes and went from an ego to my MVP 20W and was more than satisfied. The only reason I'm upgrading to a 3.0 is because it's tax time, so I'm dropping 250 bucks on a lot of vape related stuff(mostly DIY liquid stuff lol).
