I say no, when I told my doctor about me vaping he said that was great and he changed my chart to read former smoker. insurance well that can be a trickier subject they will use any excuse they can to raise premiums or deny your benefits. But for now being listed as a former smoker in my medical charts is a huge win.

Yep, what Mike said above.

If they're asking if you're a smoker, you can say no. If you still use nicotine, and they ask if you use nicotine, then you would say yes. If you vape 0mg, you can say no to both questions. The risk in lying to your insurance company (ie: saying no when they ask if you use nicotine, even if you do) is that -- if they find out you use nicotine -- they can refuse your insurance. Potentially, screwing your children/family out of money if they're trying to redeem a claim.

Thanks for the responses!

My doctor's forms were easy because it specifically asked if I use any tobacco products. It did make me wonder how I would/should answer it otherwise though. You guys are right about insurance companies though.. They'll find any way to get out of paying. I think they're just going to have to start specifically adding the vaping question because just nicotine usage isn't a fair appraisal either. My partner is a nicotine gum addict and my ex is always wearing those nicotine patches, but neither of them are inhaling anything.

I've been spending a lot of time lately with medical testing which is a pain in the -. My doc agrees that if nothing is burning there's no smoke, and if no smoke, I'm not a smoker. I will say they are amazed at how good my lungs look on all the scans, especially when you consider I smoked for more than 40 years.
