I have been here on ECF for 3 months now, in thread after thread I read people referring to their OCD. I would call myself mildly OCD, all my bottles have to be lined up in a row, all labels facing front, larger bottles on the top shelf, smaller bottles on the bottom shelf. I made charms to go on my Davide Mini's, a certain color charm for each flavor. I fill them 3 at a time, can't refill till all are empty.... and it goes on. I wonder if OCD has anything to do with the fact I was a smoker, and vaping is the only thing that keeps me off analogues. The constant hand to mouth repetition. Just pondering the connection.... I will say it is nice to know I am not alone

Yep ocd but wont say with what I am ocd about because when I just did things started to bother me but I think I am mildly ocd also as I can let things go temporarily as long as I tell myself I will address it in the very near future.

Hey now! Wonder where this came from?

And, yes. I am. All my bottles are glass with glass drippers and labels that match, and things do have to line up and all be with the others like them.

And I think you may be onto something......somehow. Smoking was a sort of mini-vacation for me. I just sat and smoked and chilled or thought. No having a 'distraction" Finding vaping booted my OCD into high gear for a while, but I already see it settling down...the more I learn and learn what I like and don't, need and don't. Maybe eventually it'll be the mini-vacation smoking used to be. Ha.

I'm organized yes...possibly a little OCD there but where I really see it is eating. If I'm eating skittles for instance, If I pop a green one on the left side of my mouth, I need a green one for the right. etc etc. I always alternate bites, left then right...and I have to finish with even bites. If I have two sandwiches, I eat each sandwich in 9 bites. 3 across the top, 3 across the middle, and 3 across the bottom. I alternate so I get a bite on each side of my mouth. If I only have one sandwich, I have to eat it in 12 bites...smaller bites in 4 rows instead of 3 so I have an even amount. My wife will be like...Can I have a bite? No...but you can have two bites...

That is funny...." No...but you can have two bites " is just epic.

I have been mildly OCD since I was a wee lass, but mainly only when music was involved.
I became much more OCD when I became homeless with my 3 Cats, living in a van...cleanliness and orderliness was the order of the day.
I was constantly sweeping, cleaning and rearranging inside the van to make it more livable for us.
When we emerged from homelessness nine months later I found myself doing the same thing - constantly straightening up.
Over the ensuing years it has gotten better on its own but I still find myself looking at the bedroom, front closet or various cabinets in the apartment and thinking, "well maybe I can do this with it...."
Because of the effect of the close quarters when my Cats and I were homeless, I am quick to throw things out (especially furniture) if I feel there is too much stuff in the room...kinda the opposite of hoarding, lol

Look into OCPD: Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder. It's basically OCD light. None of the compulsions are life-breaking. Also, the obsessive compulsions tend to flare up more during high-stress periods, such as removing a compulsive habit that's been with you for years, especially one that your brain thinks it needs to produce certain neurotransmitters. Also,ADHD can behave similarly to OCD, and vice versa. ADHD is commonly self-medicated with nicotine. There is a hypothesis that OCD and ADHD are located on the same gene, and researchers are starting to look into the incidence of comorbidity.

Makes sense to me. I have ADHD too. The OCD (or OCPD) is pretty clearly related.
