The towel is indeed a must. very versatile. But i have agree that it shouldn't be used for TP, and that pine cones etc etc should also not be used for TP. You can also use the towel to carry the TP.
I haven't heard of any movie sequels to HHG, but Neil Gamon wrote a bio about Douglas Adams called "Don't Panic".
