The Ares, wide open, I guess could give a restricted lung hit. It is fairly adjustable, but it is most definitively set up as a MTL RTA (in my humble opinion as always).

If you want a really sub0hm vape, and you can return it, I might consider doing so, but as I don't know your exact vaping style, I'm unsure. If you want to put a 0.2 coil in there and turn the wattage up to 60 watts, or whatnot, I'm not sure the Ares is what you want.

I'm sure others will chime in, and it CAN be on the airier side of MTL tanks, but it most certainly is not a DL setup for the most part. It's a nice atomizer but if you want to really be sub0hming, I'd think there would be other tanks that suit you better.

Best of luck deciding.

If I do return it, I guess the question would be in exchange for what?
Mainly I have Smok tanks, but I want something different. I was looking at the Griffin RTA Tank by Geek Vape.

As for my vaping style. I'm definitely a DTL guy. I prefer a warm but not hot vape. I'm currently running a .15 ohm coil at 50 watts. That's the sweet spot for this particular coil.

The Griffin 25 Plus is still a good choice, but its predecessors are outclassed by most newer tanks imo.
Thanks for the suggestion. I've been away from vaping for a few years. All the new equipment has my head spinning. I know what I like, but nothing about the tanks.

I am having trouble with my Ares RTAs. I bought one to see and liked it enough so I bought two more. Been about a month or five weeks and the 510 on the bottom seems in deep on the Ares. I've loosened the pin, but then the connection is not 100%. It is the second of three and it is not the mod.

I just ordered a Zeus. I got two Siren V2 at the same time as the Ares, they seem better...more solid of a feel. If the Zeus doesn't work out, I'll get more Sirens or back to my stocks.

Well, yesterday I machined the Ares trying to make it more DTL friendly. I opened up all the air holes, widened the chimney and drilled out the center hole in the shower cap design. It seems to be more airy now, I'll post how it worked out after I get a chance to coil and wick it.

You may need to consider the juice wells as well.. I don't have an ARES but I do know that tanks set up for DTL have larger juice wells..if your getting dry hits try making those larger too.

For MTL the Ares really seems to be well designed. Very tight draw at it's lowest opening and still pretty darn tight wide open.

There were a couple (3) really good MTL tanks that came out last year that had low price points and the Ares was one of them... it was awesome for MTL vapers because until then there was a lack of lower price yet good quality MTL RTA's on the market.. high end we had, but not low price..

Last year was a good year for MTL..

I like the Siren V2 a lot. I run it wide open as it just seems to vape best that way for me. It's definitely near the top if not at the top, of my favorite atomizers. It also seems to be a bit "love it or hate it" for some folks. I love mine (2 22 mm, 2 24 mm) but I do find I have to set it up right for flavor, and (IMO) it does better with some stronger flavors like fruits, although I'm currently running a mimosa mix in one of mine that is rather subtle, and it's working out well.

Wash thoroughly if you get one, it can come with machine oil etc. But yes the Siren V2 is fantastic and as easy to build as the Ares. I can't get flavor to truly "emerge" without a fair amount of airflow so it's a somewhat "thirsty" tank for me, but I don't really mind. Etc.
