So, I've been vaping for going on four years now. Started with a 510 mini, quickly moved on to an eGo then started the Mod Dance. GGTB, SBs, GGTSs, Provaris, Darwin (that one was NICE), on and on and on. I'm not even going to get into the various tanks and rebuildables that I've had.

Now I'm sitting here vaping an eGo Twist battery with an eVod on it. To me it's better than the most expensive setup I ever ran, a SSGGTS with a Kick and UFS on it. That setup ran me about $600. This one, about $40.

Has anyone else had this experience? Gone all the way to the top of the eCig food chain then come back down to the bottom and found that they were perfectly happy there?

I've only been at it for a bit over 3 years, and never ventured to "the top of the eCig food chain". I found the voltage that worked for me, with a carto / atty setup that I could make work well with it. Found a cheap, basic VV mod that was my "big" expense. Found if I DIY my juice the flavors are what I like, stuck with them.

Most of what I've used has been relatively low tech (considering what's available) and / or home built mods.

I've always been in it for the nicotine!!:)

Whats better about an eGo and an eVod than the higher end mods and rbas? They can't put out as much vapor or last as long.

They put out enough (for me) and if I need something that lasts longer I switch to my MVP. More than a day of vapetime if I don't plug it in, which I do because I work in front of my computer.

I'm not trying to argue against high end mods. I'm just wondering if anyone else has done them and come back down to cheaper Chinese stuff and been pleased.

sounds like you fell into the shiny trap more then trying to improve the vapor. nothing wrong with whatever works for you. personally I love to play with things like this. and spent a lot of time perfecting the set up on the devices I do use for maximum effect, and a clearo just cant cut it for me.

whatever makes you happy is the best vape in the world :D

I have no idea what you're referring to in some of the high end mod makes you mention, however, whether you meant to or not, you have helped me in a big way. I've really been wondering, like many others I'm sure, what all these other options could do for me. And now I know - not much! I think what a lot of folks are after is a look, just clothing. They want to express themselves thru their rig. Which is great, but it makes sense that you don't need to "climb to the top of the chain" to do it. I also understand that a lot of folks are interested in exploring the DIY side and tinkering too, but the same should still apply - does the shiney $300 mech vape better than the $34 clone? No! It's just a battery holder! And personally, I'm not interested in spending my free time fiddling with wicks and wires and whatsits when a 5 pack of ready to go heads is as cheap as they are. Sorry for the rant.

I'm actually very interested in mechs but in so much as modifying the aesthetics. I was a welder/machinist/metal worker for many years so this bit easily draws my attention.
But thank you in advance for keeping from spending what probably would have been a lot of money needlessly!

the real problem is many people see others using this gear and dont realize it takes tuning and matching and playing to make it substantially different.
when they get it they realize this isnt just screw on the clearo and go anymore and become dissatisfied not understanding how others think it is all that..

I went through alot of iterations of gear to end up at a REO + RM2. THat is my happy place. I probably would have got here alot quicker if I hadn't been afraid of dripping. No it is not a cheap setup to start. Long run it will be.

I can honestly say I am done and happy.

Everyone has thier optimal thing and more power to em.

Fell in, climbed halfway out, fell back in, scrambled almost to the edge of the pit, then RIGHT BACK IN... LoL. I don't even want to think about how much I've spent on various 'High End' mods. My list of devices I've owned would make you sick.

Also, I'm so glad Phil Busardo coined that phrase about vaping. It's defused a lot of battle royales between various fanbois.

Mech mods definitely have their place. If I was going to go out and buy one right now I'd probably snag a Chi-You clone. The biggest issue I have with them is their simplicity. They're not complicated devices, which is great for the owner, but the price tag that's attached is absolutely ridiculous. $200 for a metal tube and switch? Get out of town.

Darn. I really didn't want this to be a High End Mod Bash. I can definitely see the other side of the coin, to be fair. I'm sure there are people that are still using the same GGTS they've had for years.

The great thing about the devices each of us use is choice.
"The top of the eCig food chain" really could be just as simple as an Ego/Tank for many.
I've read plenty of posts around here in which that's all some people have used for years and couldn't be happier.

There are also many like myself who choose to chase the shiny or the next best thing for variety sake.
I don't necessarily want to use the same device day in and day out.

Absolutely been vaping a long time but for out in the car that setup is exactly what I use. And with the right liquid you blow massive clouds for all the "cloud chasers" out there.
